HRW: Syria is hostile to any Kurdish political or cultural expression

Human Rights Watch said in a report released on Thursday that Syrian authorities should end their “unlawful and unjustified” practices of attacking Kurdish gatherings and detaining Kurdish activists . “At a time when other countries in the region, from Iraq to Turkey, are improving the treatment of their Kurdish minority, Syria remains resistant to change,” said Sarah Leah Whitson, HRW’s Middle East director and added: “In fact, Syria has been especially hostile to any Kurdish political or cultural expression.”

First of all, I thank Ms Sarah Whitson for her report. In fact, I’m one of the Kurdish victims who has been stripped from the Syrian nationality and as such classified a “foreigner” in the country of birth by the Syrian authoritative regime. I now live in exile and thanks for the British authorities and people who respected the law and granted me my rights.
    Thanking you

    Mamo
