One man was killed and another wounded Tuesday when Lebanese troops exchanged gunfire with arms smugglers in the border town of Majdal Anjar, near the borders with Syria.

National News Agency reported that an army patrol at dawn ran into a group of armed men( that had been smuggling arms ), who opened fire on them, prompting troops to return fire.
Ahmed Abdel Fattah was killed in the shootout while the injured man was identified as Ali Shouman.rom the Hammoud clan.

Majdel Anjar used to be the headquarters for Syrian Intelligence during the Syrian tutelage . It is very close to the borders and a well known venue for smuggling arms from Syria into Lebanon
