2 French UN peacekeepers die in road accident in Lebanon

An armored vehicle carrying United Nations peacekeepers veered off a road and into a ravine in southern Lebanon Saturday in an accident that killed two French peacekeepers, officials said.

The troops were driving in the area of Rashaya al-Fukhar and three other peacekeepers were wounded, said Col. Diego Fulco, a spokesman for the force, known as UNIFIL.

France’s Defense Ministry said those killed were both French and that the vehicle fell into a ravine during a reconnaissance mission.

The peacekeeping mission has about 12,100 military personnel from 30 countries. AP

I am so sorry for the death of these soldiers. They come to our country to give us peace, order and security and they die in Lebanon by a stupid car accident. Thank God it was not through a terrorist act.

Hey Ludo calm down mon ami. no one is not respecting your presence. if you think you are doing the lebanese a favor think again. every single Lebaneses knows someone close to them or has heard of someone of a friend that has died. if your country and the rest of the western world would not support Israel and treat it like as if it has the right to do whatever it wants around the world, then you wont have to be here. we respect you but when you start saying idiots, then go to hell cos it was Israel’s cowardly attitude after the 2006 war that they insisted you be here. we are very sorry for losing your friend in an unfortunate accident but you must understand when there has been so much blood in lebanon cos of israel’s chicken shit attitude and bullying of the western leaders then will say don’t get too emotional cos we have been crying for more than 40 years. we are very sotty for your friend but if you don’t want to be here then lobby your president to start helping your country and others to impose sanctions against israel until it acts like a civilised country instead of the savages that they are.
