Newspaper has reported that the visit of the Democratic Gathering leader MP Walid Jumblatt to Damascus will take place on or before March 25 and will be limited to a meeting with President Bashar al-Assad, who has prepared for him a warm reception and that the visit will be for one day only .
On the other hand Al Akhbar newspaper has reported that Jumblatt told the Syrian leadership that Taymour Walid Jumblatt would be the de facto leader of the PSP within a maximum two year period.

My hunch is that Walid is going to blow himself up at the Presence of Bashar Al Assad..All the ass kissing of Bashar will not go in vain after all. I wish all these leaders pack their bags and leave Lebanon and take their sons with them and stop trying to control their own sect and lebanon.
Ufffffffffffft haven’t Lebanon had enough of these jackasses and now their sons and the later sons. How could you people follow these idiots for generations to come. Enough is enough.

I have nothing to say against or for Jumblatt Junior (Teymour), I wish him good luck. May be some new blood, young educated modern will help. However, one thing I don’t like is the inheritance of politics from father to son in all Lebanese parties, no exception. This is ridiculous. Every family cnsiders itself like royalty and they pass along the “crown” to the next generation.

Unbeleivable that this douche bag is going to syria to get an ok for his son to take over his position. If I was his son I would decline and put a garbage bag on my head for the shame his douche bag father has brought on to his people. TFUUUUUU

he’s not going to syria to get the ok from them. his apology is to make ammends with them thereby saving his son’s life.
it’s a political and smart thing to do if he wants to save the jebel druze and its people from syria. its easy to criticise the obvious but one must look at the ulterior motive behind one’s actions and in this case, you don’t know if jumblatt has been diagnosed with something and has a few years to live or maybe he wants to retire so he should clean the slate for his son which is a smart move.
and Constantin, my friend, look at the passing of the torch in US elections and the illusion of the people voting. from bush to bush. from bush to obama (5th cousin to cheney). at least in lebanon its in the open and transparency for the people is available instead of thinking we’re idiots and lying to us like the US lies to its people everyday. every US candidate has to be a member of the skull and bones to be even considered OR he must take some loyalty oath to Israael before he is even considered.

are you nuts comparing the syrian jumblatt way of doing politics to american politics ?????
the truth is, wether we like it or not, no matter how bad american politicians are, they are absolutely nothing in terms of filth compared to the middle eastern politicians.
most of the politicians in the middle east and lebanon and a great number of those allied with the iran – syria – hezb – hamas axe curse night and day the west with the us on top of the list and most of its institutions and IN THE SAME TIME SEND THEIR MONEY TO INVEST IN THE WEST ALONG WITH THEIR SONS AND DAUGHTERS TO LIVE AND LEARN THERE.
the young jumblatt doesnt need his father’s recommendation to integrate the syrian politics, his connection with the shiite community through his wife’s family zaayter opens the syrian doors wide open for him.

Hi Voice of Truth,
yeah i’m nuts. i like to always flip the coin and see what’s on the other side. if you think US politics doesn’t have filth then you are very naiive into thinking the West is so pure and easy going. harriri assasination in the East JFK in the West. Nixon impeached for no reason and please don’t say watergate as all the intelligent people know that was theatrics in the West, Siniora impeached in the East.
please my friend if the East had every institution available to learn then my parents would not have sent me to England, Lebanon and the US to study so don’t blame people for learning elsewhere.
as in any mafia, gang, political lifestyle, yes, the slate needs to be wiped clean regardless of marriage or not because the son whether you like it or not inhereits the father’s sins. in this case, read Jumblatt’s statement when he said and he will say the rest in private when he goes to Syria.
how do you know he won’t say okay i humiliated myself in public but you touch my son and the druze people will rise in lebanon and in syria against you. we have no clue what he will say in private and can only assume things.
i am only talking from a neutral stand point again but i am not going to assume that Jumblatt did not look before he crossed that road. he is not a dumb person. i like him.

All of you call for change to new Lebanon.I start having some doubt in you intention after reading and listening to some of your comments. What is it with some of tou people? you want peace ,prosperity, new faces, new politicians and the old to be out.And now here we are having young bright and sharp guy (Taymour)on his kick of with his career. We should wish him well, but instead you already start trashing him and calling him all kind of names. That is absurd. You never happy.Hell if he is old and doomed if he is young.Whether you are very disturbed and confused in your life, or it is the after shock of the civil war still effecting on your mentality. The negativity in most of your comments repeatedly pointing out to certain religion and singling out certain individuals for their believe;Show how much hatred you still have, and how far apart you are divided. You are not willing for the past to let go;as if you never learn anything yet.Imagine if some one with so much negativity rules this country(Lebanon)God forbid.Lebanon will not thrive on such mentality.Look in the mirror and be honest with your self. What do you see? Evil who wants to concord Lebanon with more pain, suffering ,trouble and destruction or some one who is realy sicer for peace and unity? People look at you and judge you the same way you look at them.So leave the past behind and work for better Lebanon.Lebanon is our history and belongs to all of us.

thank god someone sees my point. way to go Nazih. all i’ve been seeing is negative negative negative. do these people mot think that there are some serious negotiations behind closed doors. progress is happening with the opening of embassies in both countries and the placement of ambassadors.
enlightened people know when to let go of the past as they forgive each other just like God forgives all our sins. it takes a bigger man to say he’s sorry and that’s a famous quote.
you should all read President Suleiman’s whole interview on htis web site and see what he’s saying starting from Saudi Arabia on unity and what this unity will do to Israel. it’s a great interview and thus the apology from Jumblatt. these aren’t just all miscalculated blurts from very smart people. even here in the Arab world leaders have advisors and thank you Nazih for your comment cos i was getting tired of all the negativity out there.
peace and love to all muslims, christians and druze in one country side by side. where else can boast such a cosmopolitan melting pot.

Ya Nazih,
i am only comparing USA to Lebanon not the middle east and i love the democracy in Lebanon. you can’t possibly think that the US is a success and lebanon is not my friend. Lebanon has been destroyed 7 times and has rebuilt itself better and bigger each time so that i something to be proud of and not taken lightly at all.
on another note, Ya Libnan should seriously flag people like HD and this Tony guy for using foul language and personal attacks. this is not the way debates go. that is the whole reason fights erupt cos of the very mentality these people use.
respect what people say and if you differ who cares? go for a drink later cos i’m sure you will both like shawarma so you can’t possibly have that much hate for someone that you will want to insult him and kill him cos he doesn’t think like you. how do you know that it’s not your opinion that’s wrong.
i hope ya libnan starts blocking people like tony and HD from using this site. you bring down the level of intelligence in our country with your use of derrogatory language. it gets boring and non enlightening.

Then let you compare success. Why can’t we adopt some of their constitution and add it to our so we could have the best of the best.If it work for them it may work for us.Lebanese are smart the most talented people on earth. But they lack communication and that is the big problem.I hope you don’t mind to call you cousin, cos all fellow Lebanese are cousins.

wallah ya nazih let’s answer your question before i go to voice of truth’s question. boy this will be kiind of long. as someone who has lived in the west most of his life, i am seeing alot of deceit and hypocrisy in its system but nonetheless, it is the best one out there so far. i would not want to live in a system like Saudi Arabia’s or Russia just to name a couple.
Lebanon is a few thousand years old and the US is only a mere 200. the constitution written by the US forefathers was in its organic stage a very good one if implemented verbatim and unchanged. under te Bush regime, they decided to convince the US Public that it is a living and breathing document that can be changed. in te early 1900s until the present not all of it is exactly implemented.
all men are created equal. Are they? blacks and women in the US get paid less than white men. in lebanon i haven’t heard of such a classist implementation. if there is, i would be shocked. i think everybody gets the equal pay in relations to their qualifications and experience.
we have the right to bear arms. well, we also do in lebanon.
all legislative powers..etc we have the same here where it goes to the house and all the different MPs vote on it.
the voting and election methods of members of congress and the US president are the same here. we have a certain length of time and then elections happen.
democratic principles are pretty much the same and you don’t want to learn everything from the states as they are still a young country. we have a lot to teach them.
slavery was around up till 40 years ago and our courts from 500 years back judged everybody equally. the history of lebanon states that the first Druze court banned slavery 500 years before the US president did.
all i’m trying to say ya habeebi my brother and beloved human being is that Lebanon has a very good system in place and is getting ironed out everyday from the absorption of Hizbollah arms into the army with a representation of its people in the government to the rights of expatriates to vote in all elections to the lowering of the voting age to the improvement of border safety and to the separation of church and state so one day you don’t have to vote christian and only be living in a christian neoghborhood.
we all have to be patient and help our elected officials make the proper decisions so as to write the proper laws that will protect our rights as people and as its citizens.
i know many of us are stressed and tired of war but look at the hemeroidal preparation H to our south (Israel) that keeps sticking its sword at us while we continue to rebuild and we are a strong eceonomy regardless of what many of us think.
greece is bankrupt without a war while our banks reported profits during the world recession because our banking officials are smart to invest within – and that was right after a war.
our constitution is a good one and we have to be very patient in allowing the parties have many discussions. i have sat on many board meetings and i can see how tedious a policy or law can get cos it all comes down to a sentence such as Siniora recently taking out one sentence that included the resistance. i worked on a by-law in our building in Canada as to whether or not to allow pets and it took us 3 weeks just to decide on the size of stupid dog, above and less than how many pounds and whether or not it is a short hair or long hair breed.
lebanon is a success and in my eyes is a better democracy than many western countries including the US. we have the same freedoms for our women as they do theirs, we have the right to religion and the right to speech which they don’t.
their right of speech is controlled by the lobbyists and only a sentence here and there is allowed for the palestinian and lebanese points of views but is flooded everyday by how democratic israel is.
do you want that type od constitution? i hope i answered your question to the best of my abilities but feel free to google the US constitution and you will see many lies in it that are not implemented.
love peace and a bright future to Lebanon and ALL its citizens and please let’s have healthy debates without personal attacks cos we are in the same boat together (Lebanon) so when we fight, we are only sinking our own ship people.
i have to go to work now so Voice of Truth i will respond to you tomorrow my brother.

I agree with you in all points except one:
“slavery was around up till 40 years ago and our courts from 500 years back judged everybody equally. the history of lebanon states that the first Druze court banned slavery 500 years before the US president did.”
May be on paper Lebanon policies toward slavery is exactly that, but the action of the Lebanese towards foreign Nationals and Palestinians residing in Lebanon working as maids in Lebanon is the opposite. Read the news and see how they are maltreated and used and stripped of their rights.

i did not saying the west was so pure and easy going, i even said politicians in the west were bad.
but wait a second, you are comparing the assasination of hariri to jfk in the us where no real culprits were found????
let us suppose with hariri murder that lebanon is even with the us in this field, what about the dozens of political assasinations before and after hariri’s murder????very few cases were solved and only partially.
do you think you could have a similar situation any where in the world and not just in the west, without having regimes changed and murderers convicted and sentenced????
only in the middle east and yes let us admitted regretfully in lebanon where you could find such backlog of injustice that we hope one day we will be able to end this sad episode and give answers to all the victims families.

Yo VoT,
i understand what you’re saying bro. there are many murders around the world that haven’t been accounted for and yes, it would be great to get closure on these cases so people can move on. for the political assasinatons to be accounted for, you would have to be as ruthless as the US did when they invaded Iraq and for the first time in history tried a leader and killed him before he had the chance to show that the US also helped in killing the people by supplying the mustard gas…etc
for you to get to the actual culprit, you will most likely get to the scape goats as in any investigation which will lead to some group or army general.
it’s time to open a new page and let’s just between you an i know who they were and just steer our leaders during every election to not make the same mistake again.
with the hariri assasination (Alla yir7amoo) i would not be surprised if Mossad and Syria both collaberated together.
we are hopefully opening a new page in Lebanon and these killings won’t happen anymore cos Syria is gone now and embassies have opened in both countries so, if things keep going forward and negotiations remain fruitful for all parties, we will see a new Lebanon.
take care bro

I wonder when we will reach a phase in lebanon history where parties leadsership are elected and not appointed from within the family. It has been a trend in most of the lebanese parties and streams that son will take over from the father.
I dont know what are the opinion of the outstanding members of a party which after years of dedication to the party, they have to see the son appointed as the big leader?
are we different from our neighbours that we tend to criticize? are none of the parties’ existent members worth of assuming the highest position?

Hi Walid,
Well I guess we have more ahead of us in bringing this issue on their tables for debates. i had no idea of this my friend.
if you have any articles or links, please send them to me bro. i will also google human rights lebanon or something as this is new to me.
i am aware of the whole palestinian camp issue re not issuing them citizenship which i agree with cos then that will mean israel wins in shipping palestinians to other countries that will accept them.
but i’m not aware that as workers or whatever they are not given certain rights.

You can find many too many stories out there. However, I do not live there but when I visit I see first hand the abuse. I have witnessed maids working for 17 to 18 hours non-stop. They have no rights and labour rights do not apply to them.
Now I am not saying that all Lebanese treat them like that but a good and significant portion of them do.

TONY A: We are not talking about Russia or Saudi Arabia. It is Lebanon and USA.It does not mater how old is Lebanon or how young is USA.We measure them by success and achievements. When it comes to this,USA is few thousand years ahead and Lebanon 200 hundred years in the making.Lebanese ego is so high never admit fallers. You have seen a lot in Canada and a lot more to be seen.I am living the American dream and practicing two culture every day where people obey the law and are treated equally.Jobs are granted to those who are qualified the most regardless their race ,religion or agenda. What you hear from the media news and tv is not always the truth. You have to look at the picture as a whole.Black never under payed because of their color. They are payed by their qualification which is education and experience.majority don’t have enough school. And some are highly educated and hold government positions.Look at president Obama.Women are treated equally like men. They have more right and power than men.Actually men almost has no right compare to women in( USA).I don’t think you know what you are talking about.Their salary and rates depends on the job and physical productivity they perform.Don’t expect to get payed $30. for a production worth ed $15.And that’s not fare.Slavery still exist in Lebanon, walid khouri explained that to you very well.No don’t be shocked.you know the facts and you don’t wanna learn from young state(USA) which is young strong and successful USA is a raw model for democracy. You went on and on and on We know whats going on in Lebanon.things will be done the right and proper way eventually. The you mentioned Hezbollah and blaming Israel for that .Their is no excuse, now there is no outsider put the gun to our head to anything except Hezbollah. They are the problem now and the bar-don is on them .My friend and ya habibi; There is a big deference or may i say no deference between making making law to allow dogs in to residential building and making state and government law.I own few apartment buildings and i know how it works. The land lord is the one who makes the rules,in some cases tenants submit a petition to the landlord an he on his term decides whether he accept it or not.Lebanon democracy is not better the US A’s.you must be kidding your self.but that would be a nice wish. You said women in Lebanon have the same freedom as USA. YOU must be out of your mind. That was a joke definitely. Are you living on another planet? You may have to do more research about that cos you are not even close .I know the constitution.I read it and it is great. I know we all love Lebanon .But we have to realistic and peace to all.
