Lebanese President Michel Suleiman refused to respond to criticisms launched against him, during an interview with Al-Liwaa newspaper on Saturday.
On Wednesday March 17 , Former minister Wiam Wahab a staunch ally of Syria attacked President Michel Suleiman and called on him to resign for allegedly failing to govern the country.
Following talks with Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun in Rabiyeh, Wahab said the president should resign “because after two years of rule we feel like we are in the last days of the presidency.” (more…)
Lebanon Speaker Nabih Berri will head to Turkey on Sunday with a parliamentary delegation for an official state visit, the National News Agency (NNA) reported on Saturday
During his visit Berri is expected to meet with high-ranking Turkish officials, including President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Speaker Mehmet Ali Chahine. (more…)

Iranian plans to build a nuclear reactor have caused tensions for its neighbor and longtime enemy, Israel.
Iran claims that its intentions are to build a reactor to harvest cheap and efficient electrical power. The Untied States and its western allies suspect Iran might be using this as a ruse to build a nuclear weapon.

Hamas officials say Israeli aircraft have fired five missiles at Gaza’s defunct airport and nearby border tunnels, wounding at least 12 people.
The Israeli military confirmed Friday’s airstrikes, saying they targeted militant activities in response to recent rocket fire from Gaza.
The missile strikes come a day after rocket fire from Gaza killed a Thai worker on an Israeli communal farm near the Gaza border. Israel has said it holds Gaza’s Hamas rulers responsible even though Hamas opponents said they fired the rocket. (more…)

Several thousand angry demonstrators in Beirut and in Sidon marched on Friday to condemn Israel’s plans to build new settlements and its reconstruction of the Hurva synagogue, as religious leaders called for actions instead of words to fight Israel.
About 3,000 Lebanese and Palestinians gathered in front of the Economic and Social Committee for Western Asia (ESCWA) office in Beirut holding a large Palestinian flag to show their solidarity with the Palestinian people. (more…)
