Nasri Khoury likes to keep his job

khoury nasriSecretary-General of the Syrian-Lebanese Higher Council Nasri Khoury wants to keep his job . He reiterated on Tuesday that the presence of embassies in Lebanon and Syria does not contradict with the functions of the council.

In remarks to LBC TV network, Khoury said: “Until now, as a secretary-general my authorities did not interfere with the authorities of the Syrian ambassador Ali Abdul Karim Ali or the Lebanese ambassador in Damascus Michel Khoury.” (more…)

Germany presses Turkey on Cyprus, Iran

Merkel  ErdoganVisiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday urged Turkey to open its ports and airports to Cyprus to facilitate accession talks with the European Union (EU), while calling on the NATO member country to take the side of the West in imposing sanctions on Iran.

A solution of the Cyprus issue was key for further progress in Turkey’s EU entry bid and Turkey must carry out its promises under the Ankara protocol, a 2005 agreement to open Turkey’s ports and airports to Greek Cypriot traffic, Merkel told a press conference here. (more…)

Lebanon PM : We will not surrender our land to anyone

Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri concluded on Monday his 2-day official visit to Bulgaria by meeting with the Lebanese community in Sofia.

“No Lebanese is allowed to undermine national unity because it is the basis of preserving stability, security and coexistence in Lebanon that we have to protect with our eyelashes. This unity is what makes us cling to our country,” Hariri told the Lebanese community . (more…)

Jumblatt criticizes Libya summit, praises democracy in Iraq

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt criticized the outcome of Libya’s Arab summit , saying ” it emphasized the continuous Arab course of deterioration and regression, especially in terms of refraining to take any vital decisions on the issue of the historical Arab-Israeli conflict in the region.” (more…)
