Four people were arrested by the Internal Security Forces in Maameltein, including one who is convicted of forging and dealing with counterfeit money. They were in a rented car which they rented in the city of Tyre in south Lebanon . 3 were Lebanese and one was Syrian.
Lebanese President Michel Suleiman returned to Beirut after a five-day official visit to Brazil during which he met with his Brazilian counterpart and several key Brazilian officials. Former Lebanese MP and March 14 General Secretariat Coordinator Fares Soueid said during an interview with MTV on Tuesday that he rejects Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun’s attempt to make President Michel Suleiman look like he is interfering in May’s municipal elections.
Soueid was responding to Aoun’s statement yesterday when he told OTV that Suleiman should stop political officials from putting pressure on candidates, particularly those running in Jbeil. (more…)

Lebanese Prime Minister Hariri warned PFLP-GC chief Ahmed Jibril against attempting a military action in Lebanon.
“Jibril has to respect himself. We are on the lookout for him if he decided to move his Palestinian arms,” Hariri said in an interview with the Qatari daily al-Watan set to be published on Thursday.

Prime Minister Saad Hariri has ended up his short visit to Egypt Tuesday with assurances by Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak that there will be no Israeli war on Lebanon. (more…)

Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri will head Tuesday afternoon to Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt. He is expected to return to Lebanon after few hours.
According to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the aim of Hariri’s visit is to meet Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to congratulate him after the surgery he underwent in Germany. (more…)

A retrial has begun for an Egyptian real estate mogul accused of hiring a hit man to murder a Lebanese pop star in her Dubai apartment.
In his first trial, Hisham Talaat Moustafa was convicted of paying a former policeman $2 million to kill his ex-girlfriend, 30-year-old singer Suzanne Tamim, in July 2008. The two men were sentenced to death, but an appeals court ordered a new trial, citing incorrect legal procedures and insufficient evidence.
