Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt told As Safir newspaper: “Regardless whether the assurances of ( Spanish Foreign Minister) Moratinos were serious or not , our experience with Israel tells us that we should be always prepared , since we cannot trust Israel.”

Jumblatt was referring to Miguel Angel Moratinos ‘ comments following his meeting with Lebanon’s PM Saad Hariri: “Israeli authorities asked me to convey a message to Syria and Lebanon, which is that they seek to ease tension, and they expressed their willingness for negotiations.”
