Lebanon’s Prime Minister Saad Hariri met with Jordan’s King Abdullah II on Friday in Red Sea port city of Aqaba as part of his Middle East tour ahead his trip to Washington on Monday for talks with U.S. President Barack Obama.
They reportedly discussed bilateral relations and regional developments.
Hariri heads to Cairo and Ankara on Saturday for talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Arab central bankers cautioned their governments on Thursday against basking in the confidence of escaping the global financial crisis mostly unscathed.

The Qadisha Valley, is under the threat of removal from UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
An Nahar newspaper reported that the violations in the valley in the north led the UNESCO’s World Heritage Center to warn Lebanon that it would put the area which is on the World Heritage List in Danger which is the first step in dropping it from the list.
According to An Nahar violations, such as picnics, restaurants and other building projects in the area, are tarnishing the valley’s image and are behind UNESCO’s threats. (more…)
In the most serious attack for over 20 years, a North Korean torpedo was found to be responsible for the sinking of the Cheonan, a 300-ft South Korean warship, which sank on March 26 with the loss of 46 lives.
An official report, carried out by South Korean investigators together with teams from the United States, Britain, Australia and Sweden, said the evidence pointed “overwhelmingly to the conclusion that the torpedo was fired by a North Korean submarine.” It added: “There is no other plausible explanation.” (more…)
