Informed sources from Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s office told As Safir newspaper that the objective of the visit of the Saudi monarch to Lebanon is to deal with 2 issues:
- The Palestinian peace talks
- The Iranian sanctions
The sources pointed out that as far as the indictments are concerned , these will be strictly the responsibility of the prosecutor of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon and for this reason this issue will not be discussed during the visit.
The sources ruled out the possibility of any Sunni – Shitte strife and stressed that the tension now is much less than it was 5 years ago when Lebanon’s former PM Rafik Hariri was assassinated
