Mitri: The cabinet stressed importance of unity, dialogue

Lebanon’s Information Minister Tarek Mitri briefed the media following Wednesday’s cabinet session at the Grand Serail that was chaired by PM Saad Hariri

The cabinet discussed the visit by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz and Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani’s on Friday.

Agreements with Syria

Prime Minister Saad Hariri will submit to the cabinet for approval the bilateral agreements signed during his July 17 visit to Syria with a ministerial delegation.

Israeli threats and tension in the country
Hariri said that cooperation and dialogue are the only ways to maintain unity and security in Lebanon.
“The cabinet reinforced Lebanon’s solidarity in the face of Israeli threats and violations,” Mitri also said.

Residents of South Lebanon

The cabinet also agreed to compensate landowners who have UNIFIL troops stationed on their property. Mitri did not elaborate on the basis of such compensation.
