French- Lebanese security pact: Definition of terrorism is not the issue says Fatfat

March 14 MP Ahmad Fatfat told the Voice of Lebanon (VOL) on Friday that some parties’ objections over the Lebanese-French security pact were not over the definition of terrorism as they claim, but rather they were due to “much more important reasons.”

The draft deal addresses bilateral cooperation on all security levels, including fighting terrorism. (more…)

US grants are unconditional, says Lebanon Justice minister

Lebanon Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar told LBC TV on Friday that he would reject any condition placed on his ministry in exchange for US grants, adding that these grants were unconditional.

An institute for legal studies was opened in Beirut earlier this week, which Najjar said was funded by the US. (more…)

Third telecom spy arrested in Lebanon

Lebanese authorities have arrested a third telecom employee on suspicion of spying for Israel, a source close to the investigation said Friday.

“The arrest was made late last night and the suspect is a former employee of Lebanon’s telecommunications sector,” the source told AFP. (more…)

Egyptian Red Crescent to transfer Libyan aid to Gaza

The Egyptian Red Crescent is transporting an estimated 2,000 tons of Libyan food and medical aid to the Gaza Strip by land on Thursday. The aid was being off- loaded from the Moldovan-flagged Amalthea at the port of El-Arish in Egypt late on Wednesday.

Initially the boat was planning on docking in Gaza, but the intervention of around Israel Navy vessels meant the ship had little choice other than to head for El-Arish, on the northern shoreline of the Sinai Peninsula. (more…)
