Is India’s $35 PC the Future of Computing?

The government of India has unveiled a prototype of a touchscreen, tablet computer which it expects to sell for $35 initially. As more companies migrate server applications and data storage to the cloud, a simple, Web-enabled platform such as this will replace the bloated desktop and laptop hardware architectures in use today.

Lebanon, entire world will be in trouble if Hezbollah indicted, says Sayegh

Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs Selim Sayegh said during an interview with New TV on Sunday that Lebanon and the entire world would be in an impasse if Hezbollah or any of its members are indicted by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) for the 2005 assassination of Lebanon’s former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. Stampede at German Music Festival Kills 19, injures 80

Officials in western Germany say at least 19 people have been killed and 80 injured in a stampede at the famed Love Parade techno music festival in the German city of Duisburg. The annual event is meant to celebrate music, love and peace.

Minister Harb: Lebanon is more important than the assassins

Labor Minister Butros Harb criticized Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun’s over the remarks he made about the alleged indictment by the special Tribunal for Lebanon even before it has been issued and said : The nation is more important than the assassins .

Harb said that it is as if Aoun is saying that the assassins should be protected or Lebanon will be destroyed. (more…)

Aoun : Lebanon is before ‘a major crisis’

During the annual dinner of the Zahle FPM Committee, Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun said that Lebanon is before “a major crisis” because of the anticipated ruling of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. Lebanon MP warns of possible coup

March 14 MP Okab Sakr warned during an interview with Al-Arabiya television on Saturday that there are plots for a coup in Lebanon and that only the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) can decide if Hezbollah is innocent of the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

His comment comes after Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah revealed last Thursday that the tribunal would indict some Hezbollah members (more…)

Israel braces itself for a UN fact finding mission

Israel faces another disastrous report as an ‘Independent and impartial’ fact-finding team appointed by the UN Human Rights Council will look into Israel’s ‘violations of international law’ during her commando raid on the Gaza-bound Turkish ship.

Seemingly the UN Human Rights Council wasn’t overwhelmingly impressed by Israel’s own ‘truth finding’ missions. (more…)

Saudi king Abdullah will be in Lebanon July 30

A Lebanese ministerial source told AFP that Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud will visit Syria on July 29 and Lebanon on July 30 for a summit meeting with President Michel Suleiman for talks on means of fortifying stability in Lebanon,” the source added. (more…)

Ahmadinejad calls Russian president: Mouthpiece of Iran’s enemies

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, has denounced Dimitry Medvedev, his Russian counterpart, as a “mouthpiece” of Iran’s enemies, highlighting rising tensions between the two countries.

Ahmadinejad made the comments after Russia joined the US and the EU in accusing Iran of having a hidden agenda for its controversial nuclear program. (more…)
