US wants peace in region to include Lebanon, says Feltman

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs Jeffery Feltman said Friday during an interview with Al-Arabiya TV that the United States wants peace in the region to include Lebanon and Syria, but added that there are great problems and challenges thwarting this aim.

Addressing the launch of direct Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, the former US ambassador to Lebanon stressed to Al-Arabiya that it is in the U.S.’ interest to achieve peace, noting that the success of the negotiations is not guaranteed, but the U.S. will try all it can to ensure their success.

He stressed that both the Palestinians and Israelis agreed to reach a comprehensive peace agreement within a year.

US wants peace in the region to include lebanon but they wont give us weapons and they wont tell israel to stop violating our airspace or kidnapping our shepherds or fillin gour countries with spies.

maybe they should re-spell the heading to say that the US wants a “piece of the region” to include lebanon cos it looks like they are always on the israeli side cheering for israel and never for lebanon.

i love the US people as my ex-wife was an american and i had 15 awesome years in south carolina but i hate US politics and AIPAC.

  • ole

You want peace ? Any other joke ?

  • CHRISTIAN

maybe when you give lebanon its military aid and stop israeli bombarding in our skies and perhaps remove israel from mazare3 sheb3a and the dismantaing od HA will be great!

Then Mr. Feltman and Mr. Natanyahu here is a sound suggestion:
Release Marwan Barghouti from jail, drop Abbas because no Palestinian will follow him if he would sign ANY peace treaty and negotiate with Mr. Barghouti who owns the minds and the hearts of the Palestinian people.

For those of you who do not know Palestinian politics, Mr. Barghouti is the leader of the First and Second Intifadas and championed the peace process and Oslo Accords. He is a political activist who is loved by both of the competing Palestinian political movements, Fatah and Hamas. He is also referred to by some commentators as “Palestine’s Mandela”.
I believe he was wrongly accused as being a terrorist because he was on the frontline of the intifada which in my opinion was his legitimate right to fight for the freedom of his people, and therefore not a terrorist but a hero for his people.

Release him, and negotiate directly with him, and the Palestinians will follow him “wu dakhiil Allah khaelsuuna men hall qossae”

walid you’re like Norm on Cheers. you got a lot of good info man. definitely drop Abbas. that guy sucks.

  • http://www.cadmeia.com Walid Khouri

It is not his fault that he sucks, he was schooled by that idiot Arafat who lost his way before they invented GPS. lol
However, he could have used the North Star to navigate South rather than attacking the Lebanese people.

Anyways, the biggest loser turned out to be the Palestinians. Arabs, do not give a crap about their plight and they still wave the Arab flag. They should come to their senses and know that they have more similarities with the Eastern Levantine Aramaic people rather the Arabs. The same goes about Syria, lebanon and Iraq.

Read up Tony about Barghouti, you will most likely like him and respect him.

Do not forget the Bohhsalino sweet when you land home (a beautiful culture we have) I guarantee you that after you taste it you WILL NEVER down an American donut EVER again… lol

  • Tony A

walid i am so giddy this morning stephanie and i are so excited we’re leaving. stephanie loves the knefeh and she loves to go to Hawa Chicken.

i got bohsalino on my list as well as kri kri, baraze2, helwayat el baba foul emdammas but i will for sure overdose on beklawa and shawarma man.

as for abbas, borther arafat’s left testacle has more courage than all of abbas.

arafat had to move around every day at times 3 times a day and abbas wears his suit and he sleeps in a comfy bed.

you can school someone all you want bro but unless you have it in you, you cant learn these things.

arafat would never have abandoned hammas when they got elected. all palestinians were united under him and with abbas to actually fight with hammas who was rightfully trying to kick his butt for being an idiot, he should be ashamed of his distancing of his support to hammas.

he should never enter any talks as long as the people of gaza are suffering.

all they need to worry about is the rightful return of palestinians and they should not budge from that cos at the end of the day, COEXISTENCE is the only answer and the 2 state solution is just a smoke screen. it wont work.

WALLLLLLLLLLLLLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIID I LEAVE TOMORROW MAYNG. CAN YOU HEAR ME SCREAMING MY BUTT OFF? ONE MONTH OF BEACHES, POOLS, GEMAYZE AND LOTS OF FAMILY BRO.

THERE WAS A POST THAT I READ HERE OF SOME lady that visited and was disappointed and now she calls wherever she went back to home. well i tell that lady to stay where you went back to cos i have hopes for lebanon.

theres always a downward curve before a sharp shift takes place in any system, company, relationship or anything. it always leans to the worse before it gets better.

HA feels the pressure and its trying to hard to get the attention from it but it gets hard when you have the parking lot incident.

if HA is smart, they would openly reprimand the people involved, apologise to the lebanese people and they themselves should put restrictions on their members to not enter beirut with weapons and anybody caught doing so will be punished.

this iwll go such a long way with the lebanese but when they’re being arrogant and asking why the big deal? they lose the argument.

WE LEAVE TOMORROW WALID AND TOOZ BI ANYBODY WHO DIDNT ENJOY THEIR STAY COS I LOVE LEBANON EVEN IN 2006 DURING THE WAR, I LOVED IT MORE.

MY BEST YEARS AS A CHILD WERE IN SHOUF NATIONAL COLLEGE AND ALL OF OUR SUMMER VACATIONS IN SALEEMA ADN ALLEY.

the us loves lebanon and willing to help all lebaneese but the lebaneese people need to behave and coopprate with the us its like if the doctor prescribe a medication to you and you do,nt take it you wo,nt heel the same thing you need to listen to the us
all militia should be disarm or merge with the army or what,s so ever and the lebannese army maintain the peace in all lebanon and make sure that no gangs or terrosists attack our neighboring countries and i am sure lebanon will be at peace and israel will never attack just give you an example why israel never attack jordan the answer is simple because jordan dos,nt through rockets at israel evry day the palistinians issue should be for the united nation to solve and the international community not for a tiny country like lebanon
a tiny country like lebanon should take care of lebanon and solve there problems first because the lebanneese people had sufferd toomuch for too long and they do,nt need no more wars and destruction they need to live in peace and rebuild there country they shall only worry how to fix problems of lebanon and make there country a better place to live for all the lebaneese people

    Joseph,
The Israelis want to keep the current kibbutz inside of the Palestinian territories. It is akin to Syria claiming the Alaouites to be Syrian and asking for their troops and security forces to come in and control those towns in Lebanon.
Palestine as proposed by the Israelis is not viable. It looks like a Swiss cheese.
The U.S. cannot help anyone. They are under the influence of lobbies.
As for Jordan, their economy is lopsided and the King is silenced but NOT happy. They have a lot of issues between the two countries yet to be resolved.
Besides who made the U.S. the police of the world. I really do not want any foreign country to dictate to me how I want to govern my country. Are you for real?

  • joseph

the us is an important member of the united nations and the united nation rules the world any that is not the issue here is lebanon need to mind its own buissiness and worry about lebanon probelms to solve any other issue is not for a tiny country like lebanon to decide lebaneese people had suffered toolong too much for 30 years of wars and destruction they do,nt no more wars and destruction they deserve to live in peace and they should look after lebanon and work on solving there internal problem so they can all live i peace and prosperity and be freind with the rest of the world lebaneese people are good people and they all want to live in peace with the rest of the world and they do not like to be ennemies with any other country

  • http://www.cadmeia.com Walid Khouri

I agree with you except that the U.N. rules the world.
Nobody listens to the U.N. and the U.S. global power is waning fast. They lost in Iraq and they are losing in Afghanistan.
The destruction and suffering in Lebanon cannot be solely blamed on the world however. It is the Oligarchs quibbling over the crumbs and over their turfs that caused and still causing all this mayhem.
Lebanon is a failed state as long as we elect based on sects and as long as our parties are sect centered.
I believe ANY party that does not allow people from any sect or religious belief to join should be banned in Lebanon.

  • joseph

you see the problem of the lebaneese people start with people like you am telling you lebaneese should mind their own buissiness and they should only be concern about lebanon solve lebanon problem first and there you go you make an ignorant comment about the us and other countries do,nt put your nose in shit that is not your buissiness solve your problems first

  • http://www.cadmeia.com Walid Khouri
