Feltman arrived in Beirut | Update|


Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman arrived in Beirut from Riyadh on Sunday and was received at Rafik Hariri International Airport by US Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly, National News Agency (NNA) reported. (more…)

Berri: Lebanon is ok as long as Saudi-Syrian ties are ok

Lebanon speaker Nabih Berri ruled out a sedition in Lebanon during an interview with Quds Al Arabi newspaper “specially because of the the existence of 362 000 marriages between the Shiites and Sunnis.”

Berri however warned that Israel sees the sedition as the opportunity of a lifetime. (more…)

Israel PM: Lebanon becoming Iran satellite


Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that Lebanon is quickly becoming a “satellite” of Tehran .

A Lebanese-Syrian summit may be held shortly, report

The Lebanese An-Nahar newspaper quoted an informed source on Sunday as saying that a Lebanese-Syrian summit may be held in the coming hours.

The summit would reportedly aim at following up on the Baabda summit in tackling domestic and regional developments as well as bilateral relations. (more…)

Syrian, Saudi leaders to discuss Iran, Iraq, Lebanon

Syria’s ties to Iran, the political void in Iraq and the tensions in Lebanon over the U.N.-backed tribunal.are expected to figure in talks on Sunday when Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah meets Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, analysts and diplomats said.

Announced in Saudi official media, Assad’s second trip to the world’s top oil exporter this year is the latest sign of a thaw in bilateral relations. (more…)

Nasrallah deceived Ahmadinejad about the gun, report

Hezbollah said its leader has given Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad an Israeli rifle captured from an Israeli soldier during the 2006 war with Israel as a gift to cap off his two-day visit to Lebanon.

But Israeli daily Yediot Aharonot reported Sunday that Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah deceived the Iranian President. (more…)

Soueid: Hezbollah loyalty is to Iran, not defending Lebanon

March 14 General Secretariat coordinator Fares Soueid told Al-Jazeera television on Saturday evening that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to Lebanon revealed that the Resistance is loyal to Iran, despite Hezbollah’s claims that it is defending Lebanon.

Soueid added that there is an anti-state project in Lebanon that runs counter to the efforts to build state. (more…)
