STL: Sfeir says justice must take its course

Commenting on the Hezbollah-led campaign against the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) , Maronite Patriarch Boutros Nasrallah Sfeir said on Sunday: Even if the indictment may cause some repercussions in the local arena, justice is justice and must take its course.”

More than 2 million Muslim pilgrims begin haj

Oghassabian accuses March 8 of Der Spiegel leaks

Minister of State Jean Ogassapian accused on Sunday“ the other side leaked information to Der Spiegel in order to provide material for the campaign that they are now conducting.”

Lebanese police arrests Bakri in Tripoli

Lebanese police officials say they have arrested a radical Muslim cleric Omar Bakri Mohammed who was sentenced in absentia last week to life in prison.

Allawi: Iraq’s power-sharing deal “is dead”

The head of Iraq’s main Sunni-backed political group has pronounced a new power-sharing deal “dead” and predicted more violence, just days after the accord aiming to end political infighting was reached.

Lebanon PM is ready for dialogue, not threats

Lebanon Prime Minister Saad Hariri said on Saturday that he is ready for calm and constructive dialogue, but not threats.

“It would be unacceptable if one of my political adversaries puts a gun to my head or says to me that this is the way you must go, ” he said

Bakri asks for Hezbollah’s help in escaping justice

The radical Muslim cleric, Omar Bakri Mohammad, who was sentenced to life in prison by a military court in Lebanon has reportedly asked for the help of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Saturday to save him from jail.
