Loud explosion heard in Sidon – Breaking News update

Future News has reported that a loud explosion was heard in Sidon and its surrounding areas as far as Iklim al-Toufah in south Lebanon . The cause of of the explosion has not been identified .

MTV also reported that an earthquake took place in Sidon area , which may have sounded like an explosion, but Seismological Center in Bahnas denied the MTV report and said Sidon had no earthquakes today. (more…)

Lebanese army dismantles Israeli spying devices

The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) on Wednesday dismantled what it said were Israeli spying devices placed on two of the country’s highest mountaintops, according to a Lebanese army spokesman .

The spying devices were reportedly found on Mount Sannine, in the upper Metn area northeast of Beirut, and the Barouk Mountain in the Shouf region of Mt Lebanon, (more…)

March 14 accuses March 8 of blackmail

Lebanon’s majority March 14 General Secretariat accused the Hezbollah-led March 8 alliance of rejecting justice by preemptively rejecting any result of the investigation of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL).

Judicial council refuses to deal with’ False witnesses file’

According to Central News agency ( CNA) the President of the Supreme Judicial Council Judge Ghaleb Ghanem told Lebanese President Michel Suleiman that the Council has refused to deal with with the false witnesses issue since the original file on the assassination of former PM Rafik Hariri, is still with the Special Tribunal for Lebanon ( STL) and as long as this file is in its (STL) custody, it is not legal for the Judicial Council to deal with false witnesses issue. Iraqi shoe attacker signs his first book in Beirut

The Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at former President George W. Bush said Tuesday he is suing Iraq’s prime minister for his detention and alleged torture during the nine months he spent in custody.

Muntadhar al-Zeidi spoke during the signing in Beirut of his first book, entitled “The Last Salute to President Bush.” (more…)

Lebanon PM calls Israeli report fabricated

Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s press office denied in a statement on Wednesday the Israeli internet report about his security equipment describing the allegation as “fabricated ” adding the aim of the Israelis is to acquire information on the prime minister’s security measures, and for this reason the media should refrain from expanding on this issue”. No bombs found at Justice palace

The Justice Palace in Baabda was evacuated on Wednesday after receiving a bomb threat.

Explosives experts, backed by police dogs, rushed to the scene to secure the area and search for the bombs.

Dubai property prices may continue to fall, report


Dubai property prices may drop for the next two years, extending a decline in the Arabian Gulf sheikhdom that’s already cut values by more than 60 percent since the 2008 peak.

Saudi envoy urges wisdom, patience, dialogue

Prime Minister Saad Hariri met on Tuesday evening at the Grand Serail with Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awadh Assiri.

Following the meeting, Assiri told reporters : “We appeal to everyone in Lebanon to exercise wisdom and patience, and constructive dialogue in order to attain solutions that satisfy everyone.” (more…)
