Syrian police killed Wednesday 9 protesters in Deraa


Syrian police launched an assault on a neighbourhood sheltering anti-government protesters, fatally shooting at least nine in an operation that lasted nearly 24 hours, witnesses said. (more…)

Libyan rebels form ‘interim government’

Libya’s pro-democracy fighters have formed an “interim government” even as forces backing the country’s leader, Muammar Gaddafi, press ahead with attacks against them.

Heading up the new government as an interim prime minister is Mahmoud Jibril, who had been working as a representative to foreign powers.

Syrian protesters chant anti Hezbollah and Iran slogans

Al-Arabiya TV reported on Wednesday that protesters in the southern Syrian city of Daraa are chanting against Iran and Hezbollah.

Al-Arabiya TV quoted AFP as saying that the death toll in Daraa has risen to 15 ( including an 11 year old girl) since last Friday and hundreds have been injured    in clashes between security forces and protesters . (more…)

Lebanese troops searcing for 7 kidnapped Estonians, update

U.S. envoy: US Treasury not targeting Lebanese banks

U.S. Ambassador Connelly met with the board of directors of the Association of Bankers in Lebanon, reassuring the ABL that the action taken by the U.S. Treasury against the Lebanese Canadian Bank was “not targeted against the Lebanese banking sector.” (more…)

De Freij: Hezbollah should be sued for ruining lives of Lebanese families in Bahrain

March 14 MP Nabil De Freij criticized during an interview with Akhar al-Yawm the accusations of treason after the release of the WikiLeaks reports:

Jerusalem blast leaves dozens injured- update

A loud explosion shook a busy street in Jerusalem on Wednesday, wounding nearly 30 people, authorities said.

There were no immediate reports of deaths ( see update) in the first serious bombing in Jerusalem in four years, but several people were critically injured, authorities said. (more…)
