Syrian governor fired after 7 protesters killed

A Syrian official says the governor of a southern province where a deadly government crackdown killed seven protesters has been fired.

The official says Faisal Kalthoum was fired from his position in Daraa on Tuesday. The official spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations. (more…)

Lebanese army slams Israel over kidnappings

The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) on Tuesday issued a statement that the Israeli kidnapping of two Lebanese citizens in the Southern town of Rmeish along the Blue Line is “a violation of Lebanese sovereignty and the freedom of its citizens.” (more…)

Patriarch Rai: Freedom always has a price.”

Two dynamite sticks were reportedly tossed by a speeding four- wheeler near the building of Radio Free Lebanon station in Adonis, Zouk mosbeh, just north of Beirut

Lebanon’s newly-elected Maronite Patriarch Beshara Boutros al-Rai voiced regret over the incident and said:” If this is the price of freedom, then we accept it because freedom always has a price.” (more…)

More protests in Syria

Fresh protests were taking place Tuesday in the southern city of Daraa, near a mosque that was turned into a field hospital days earlier when police allegedly opened fire on protesters, a witness said. (more…)

Jumblatt trying to unify March 8 vision, report

MP Walid Jumblatt called his meeting yesterday with MP Michel Aoun in al Rabiyah excellent and said it was part of his effort to unify the vision of March 8 alliance

“The meeting was excellent,” Jumblatt told An Nahar newspaper on Tuesday and added: “It comes as part of steps needed to unify the vision within the single team.” (more…)

U.S.-Led mission nears goal in Libya

US fighter jet crash lands near Benghazi, Libya, crew safe

A US warplane has crash landed in a Libyan field in the area around Benghazi, The Daily Telegraph can disclose.

The pilot of the F-15E fighter jet was rescued by rebel soldiers after ejecting from the aircraft, it is understood. Another crew member is also thought to have ejected. (more…)
