Assad issues a decree calling for increasing salaries

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday issued Legislative Decree No. 44 for 30/3/2011, which amends the first article of Legislative Decree No. 40 for 24/3/2011 on increasing monthly salaries and wages and adding an article for Syrian workers in Syrian embassies and delegations abroad. 16 Syrian protesters killed in Latakia

The Syria Revolution 2011, which has emerged as the organizing force behind the demonstrations demanding “freedom” in Syria has reported that 16 protesters were killed Wednesday in the port town of Latakia by the Syrian army and security forces following the speech of Syrian president Bashar al Assad

In his first appearance since the protests erupted , Assad failed to deliver on the promises made over reforms by his adviser Butheina Shaaban and instead focused on conspiracy theories and blamed the wave of protests on “conspirators” who reportedly are trying to destroy the country by sowing sectarian strife.

Rai: One-sided government violates the constitution
