Geagea: We will topple the cabinet democratically

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said on Thursday that the opposition will use all available democratic means to topple the newly-formed cabinet.

Ahmadinejad: Iran not afraid to make nuclear bomb

Iran’s president says his country isn’t afraid of making a nuclear weapon but doesn’t intend to do so.

Iranian state television on Thursday quoted President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying: “If we do want to make a bomb, we are not afraid of anybody.” (more…)

Syrian troops backed by snipers enter village near Turkish border

Silence of Venezuela’s Chavez fuels speculation

Venezuela is abuzz these days over the condition of its normally omnipresent president, Hugo Chavez — whose prolonged, uncharacteristic silence and convalescence in Cuba have generated all manner of rumor.

The firebrand leader, who is usually given to verbose speeches across all media, has not been seen or heard from since he was hospitalized on June 10 in Havana for what officials said was an operation for a pelvic abscess. (more…)

Social Affairs Minister Wael Abu Faour said on Wednesday that Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun’s recent criticism of the March 14 coalition “does not represent the spirit of the new cabinet.”

Lebanon PM pledges ‘best relations’ with the international community

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Wednesday that Lebanon is committed to having “the best relations” with the international community.

The PM was quoted by National News Agency as reiterating his cabinet’s respect for international resolutions, including UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
