Lebanon cabinet meets for the first time


Newly appointed Information Minister Walid Daouq announced following the first meeting of the new cabinet on Monday in Baabda, that the ministers agreed to “form a committee responsible for formulating the ministerial statement.” (more…)

Syrian Refugees in Turkey Call for Action

Syrian refugees began protesting Wednesday inside camps in Southern Turkey, demanding that the world take action act against the regime in Damascus even as it called for them to return home.

Arslan’s resignation accepted

Score one for Najib Mikati. He has managed to present a cabinet after almost five months of discussions that at a first glance saves his political future.

Jumblatt: The new majority has proven that it can govern


Almost 24 hours after the cabinet was formed Progressive socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt claimed that the new majority has proven that it can govern the country .

“We proved to March 14 forces that we can govern the country, and they have to admit it,” Jumblatt told al-Jazeera news channel on Monday night. (more…)

Lebanon IM called against interference in the ISF’s affairs


Interior Minister Marwan Charbel told Al-Manar television on Tuesday that “politics and robbery are two things that are forbidden in the Internal Security Forces (ISF).”

Syrian forces head for second protest town


Syrian troops using tanks and helicopters are said to be pushing towards further towns and villages in the country’s north-west, having taken control of Jisr al Shughour on Sunday.

Witnesses say troops are pursuing a “scorched earth” strategy in the area, destroying houses and crops and arresting hundreds of people. (more…)
