MP Saadeh accuses Aoun, Bassil of “inciting murder,”report

Phalange party MP Samer Saadeh accused Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun and his son-in-law, Energy Minister Gebran Bassil, of “inciting murder,” Al-Mustaqbal newspaper reported on Sunday.

Maronite Patriarch calls for coexistence between Lebanese sects

During his visit to Baalbek on Saturday, Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rai called for coexistence between Lebanese sects.

“As a Maronite Patriarch, I am telling you that no matter how bad the situation becomes, on the external and domestic levels, the coexistence will never be harmed ,” Rai said in this predominantly Shiite city. (more…)

UN chief says Lebanon must pay its share of funding STL

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon told An-Nahar newspaper that Lebanon must pay its share of funding the UN-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL).

An unnamed diplomatic source reportedly said that Prime Minister Najib Mikati “pledged” to Ban during an unannounced side meeting earlier in September that Lebanon will pay its share, An-Nahar added. (more…)

MP Saad calls for keeping the current electoral law

March 14 MP Antoine Saad told the Akhbar al-Yawm news agency on Saturday that the current electoral law is much better than the proposed law which is based on proportional representation.
