Arab League observer calls Syria conflict “genocide”

A member of the Arab League observer team in Damascus told Al Arabiya broadcaster Monday that ‘what’s happening in Syria is a genocide.’

‘This is a regime that is taking revenge on its people,’ Mostashar Mahgoub told the channel by telephone.

Suicide bomber kills 6 outside Iraq ministry of Interior

A suicide car bomber killed at least six people and wounded 31 when he detonated explosives in an attack on Iraq’s interior ministry in Baghdad, police and hospital sources said on Monday. (more…)

Security source denies existence of Al Qaeda cells in Lebanon

A well informed security reference in Lebanon denied the existence of “Al Qaeda”elements in Lebanon and infiltration of terrorists from Lebanon to Syria . He told Al Sharq Awsat newspaper :

“There are no Al Qaeda cells in Lebanon and no terrorists infiltrated from Lebanon to Syria.” (more…)

Head of Arab mission reaches Syria amid more unrest

A Sudanese general flew to Damascus on Sunday to head an Arab League mission that will check Syria’s compliance with an Arab peace plan to halt a nine-month crackdown on unrest in which more than 5,000 people have been killed. (more…)

Russia offers asylum to Syria’s Assad, report

The Israeli Maariv newspaper on Sunday reported that Russia proposed to the Syrian Vice President Farouk al-Shara to assume the powers of President Bashar al-Assad for a transitional period and until elections are being held. This in exchange for Assad being granted a political asylum in Moscow. (more…)

Syrian helicopters on Sunday circled over the outskirts of the Bekaa border town of Arsal before returning to the Syrian airspace according to a report by Future News TV
