Interior Minister Ziad Baroud announced Sunday that the average turnout in North Lebanon municipal elections stood at 46.8 percent, complaints reached 1,310 and 45 people were detained.
At a news conference held at the interior ministry an hour after polls closed at 7pm, Baroud said “zero” casualties were reported in the daylong election on Sunday. (more…)
Tripoli reported on Thursday that Clashes in Tripoli between of the Saif and Kilani family at the Al-Tabbaneh highway resulted in the death of Mohammad Qabbout and the injury of Khaled Saif and Tarek Kilani.
The security forces intervened , cordoned off the area and started its investigation into the incident.

Once the pride of Tripoli, Lebanon – designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer – the international fairground became another casualty of the 1975 civil war. It hasn’t recovered yet.
A Panamanian cargo ship named “See Way” sent distress signals to the Lebanese port in Tripoli after the vessel experienced technical problems and began to sink. Lebanese coastguards reportedly towed the ship to Tripoli port and were able to save the crew .
The vessel was sailing from Iskenderun in Turkey to Alexandria in Egypt.
