The committee tasked with putting a mechanism for administrative appointments met at the Center House under Lebanon PM Saad Hariri.
Following the meeting Minister Mohammed Fneish said the committee will hold a final meeting next Tuesday at the Grand Serail to finalize discussions.
Tashnaq’s MP Hagop Pakradounian , a member of Change and Reform bloc which is headed by MP Michel Aoun told OTV on Thursday that there is no dispute between his party and Aoun, . He was referreing to Tashnaq’s Change and Reform Minister Apraham Dedeyan’s vote in favor of the three administrative appointments during yesterday’s cabinet meeting.
“Dedeyan – who cast the deciding vote – did so based on his own personal convictions and did not know that his vote would tip the scales, said Pakradounian. He added : “We should not make a big deal out of it,”
Dedeyan voted in favor of the 3 administrative appointments while the Change and Reform ministers Gebran Bassil, Charbel Nahhas and Fadi Abboud voted against. Hezbollah ministers abstained , while Amal , Jumblatt’s Democratic Gathering , Future Movement, Lebanese Forces and Phalange Party ministers voted in favor
Yesterday we learned that the cabinet approved the following administrative appointments:
- Former Cabinet Minister Khaled Qabbani as head of the Civil Service Council.
- Judge Aouni Ramadan as President of the Audit Bureau.
- Judge Judge Akram Baasiri as head the Judicial Inspection Committee.

Future movement’s MP Atef Majdalani told MTV on Saturday that all the parliamentary blocs support competence-based administrative appointments, except the Change and Reform bloc. which publicly supports politicized appointments. Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri said : “Everyone agrees that the qualified and honest people should be appointed for the suitable positions.”
He added : The current “political calm” within the country will lead to finalizing administrative appointments soon.
He said the cabinet wants to ensure “right man in the right place.”
Hariri said he, president Suleiman and Minister of State for Administrative Reform Mohammad Fneish are working together on the issue.
