Former Brigadier General Fayez Karam was released from military prison, according to a report issued on Tuesday by the National News Agency. Karam, a senior member of Michel Aoun’s political party, was arrested by the Police Intelligence Bureau arrested in August 2010 on suspicion of spying for Israel. Upon release, he headed to Rabieh where he will meet with Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun. (more…)
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea launched a scathing attack against the Change and Reform bloc, saying that its ministers in government were corrupt.
“The thing that saddens me the most these days is that those who spoke diligently about corruption for the past 20 years proved to be the most corrupt in Lebanon’s history after taking charge of sensitive ministries in the government,” Geagea told a delegation of doctors in Meerab, north of Beirut. Future bloc MP Ahmad Fatfat said in remarks published on Tuesday that Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun has become “extremely immoral” following the latter’s statement on slain former Premier Rafik Hariri.
On Sunday, Aoun slammed those who said that Hariri’s assassination freed Lebanon from Syria, adding that it seemed they have forgotten that the “decision to restore Lebanon’s sovereignty was made at the end of 2003 and not on March 14, 2005 or February 14, 2005.” (more…)

Several Kuwaiti lawmakers have voiced strong objections to a planned visit to their country by Energy and Water Minister Jebran Bassil, noting that “he is an ardent supporter of the oppressive Syrian regime.”
“Bassil’s stances in support of the Syrian killing machine against the unarmed Syrian people make him unwelcome in Kuwait,” said MP Badr al-Dahoum, spokesman of the Justice parliamentary bloc, stressing that “guests who visit Kuwait must respect the official and popular stance on the Syrian regime.” (more…)
