Siniora : Berri’s parliament session violates the constitution

Former Lebanese PM and current Future bloc leader MP Fouad Siniora said on Sunday that the Hezbollah-led March 8 coalition is attempting to “make parliament take over the role of the cabinet,” adding that “such moves violate the constitution.”

“The work of the executive branch (cabinet ) and legislative branch [parliament] should be completely separate,” Siniora was quoted by National News Agency as saying. (more…)

In a tit for tat move Berri boycotts Mikati meeting

An Nahar reported on Sunday that Amal Movement leader Speaker Nabih Berri boycotted the mediation meeting with Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati by not sending his political aide Ali Hassan Khalil to the meeting. Jumblatt to abstain from June 8 parliament session, LBC

National Struggle Front bloc leader MP Walid Jumblatt and his bloc will abstain from the parliamentary session scheduled for June 8, LBC television reported on Thursday.

Speaker Nabih Berri called for the session in order to bypass the caretaker cabinet, despite strong opposition by some parties.

Fatfat: Berri cannot throw rocks, his house is made of glass

In a Tuesday interview with Akhbar al-Yawm news agency, March 14 MP Ahmad Fatfat responded on to Speaker Nabih Berri’s statement that the Cedar Revolution “took Lebanon 60 years back.”

Berri reports tangible progress in cabinet formation

Lebanon Speaker Nabih Berri reportedly told lawmakers during his weekly meetings with them at the parliament building There is “tangible progress,” .

He was referring to the formation of the cabinet .

“The atmosphere is better than before,” Berri told reporters before entering the parliament building to hold talks with MPs. (more…)
