Danish Defense Minister in Lebanon to inspect UN troops

Danish Minister of Defense, Søren Gade has arrived in Beirut Lebanon. He came from Djibouti on a private jet. He is expected to inspect the Danish U.N. troops stationed in southern Lebanon and to meet key Lebanese officials

Following his meeting with Druze spiritual leader Sheikh Al Akl Naim Hassan at his headquarters Verdun, Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri emphasized in response to a question by a reporter about his visit to Syria that Lebanon has started a new positive phase in its relationship with its neighbor and opened a new page that should benefit the people of both countries.
Hariri was completing his visits to Lebanese spiritual leaders to brief them on his trips to Saudi Arabia, Denmark and Syria and to congratulate them on the holidays them
In addition to Hassan , the meeting was also attended by Druze judge Sheikh Gandhi Makarem, MP Marwan Hamadeh and hariri adviser Nader Hariri

Prime Minister Saad Hariri told reporters at Bkirki that he briefed Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir on his 3 visits to: Saudi Arabia, Denmark and Syria.
“We always turn to the patriarch, because he is Lebanon’s conscience, and we always seek his blessings,” said Hariri, adding that Sfeir welcomed the PM’s trip to Damascus.
Hariri reiterated his position that he visited Syria in his capacity as “the Lebanese prime minister, and I insist on being PM of a cabinet that serves all Lebanese.” He added that the visit was “historical” and “very important” to him.
“There was complete openness by Syrian President Bashar al- Assad, and we shared our points of view clearly and honestly. We should focus on the general interests of both countries ,” he said.
Hariri also touched on the issue of demarcating the Lebanese-Syrian border, saying that both states should approach the matter in a positive attitude”
“Why do we need border demarcation with Syria? We need border demarcation to open up economically to each other,” he said in reply to a reporter’s question.
Hariri said his visit to Bkirki was also designed to wish Sfeir Merry Christmas and happy holidays.

Hariri later also visited the Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox Patriarchates to extend his Christmas greetings
