The search operations for the victims , debris and voice recorder ( black box ) of the crashed Ethiopian plane was halted due to bad weather conditions according to Future TV
Al Manar TV quoted Minister of Transportation and Public Works Ghazi Aridi said as saying that the investigation committee will issue a report in couple of days and the search will either continue or halted based on the report
Lebanon’s Prime Minister Saad Hariri who returned early morning from France held a meeting with Lebanese officials at the Grand Serail on Monday to discuss the latest developments on the Ethiopian plane crash flight ET409 . No statement was made regarding the results of the discussions
A private aircraft will shortly transport the French investigation team of the Ethiopian plane crash along with the black box to France to complete the investigation according to al Manar TV
Lebanon’s stormy weather has resulted in suspension effort of searching for victims and the debris of the Ethiopian plane flight ET409 that crashed off the Lebanese coast.
Weather conditions are expected to improve later on Thursday.
The search is set to resume at 6 am on Friday according to the daily As-Safir newspaper
Ocean Alert, which has been scanning Lebanese waters since after the crash, returned to Beirut port due to the storm, according to local reports
The Lebanese government has formally asked the U.S.-based Odyssey Marine Explorations to send a submarine to help in retrieving the victims, more parts of the plane and the black box.
Public Works and Transportation Minister Ghazi Aridi told reporters during a press conference that his Syrian counterpart has informed him about the recovery of a section of the Ethiopian plane in Syrian waters and that it will be handed over to Lebanese authorities.
Aridi unveiled that one of the victims’ body was trapped between rocks in the sea. It hasn’t been retrieved yet due to bad weather and high waves, he said.
The minister revealed that even though the area where the recorders ( black boxes) has been identified the exact location is not known yet
Aridi has denied that Ocean Alert ship was costing the Lebanese government huge sums of money. “We are being criticized for (allegedly) paying huge sums of money to bring in foreign ships. Had we not asked for their help, they (critics) would have said that we are being stingy and we and we are not thinking about the victims,”
“I will tell you clearly that we haven’t paid a penny yet,” He added
