The Future Movement bloc issued a statement Tuesday commending President Michel Suleiman and Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s for declaring that Lebanon is committed to international resolutions.

“These statements are a good start , but it is necessary to transform them into action, especially with regard to the implementation of Lebanon’s commitment to paying its $32 million share of funding the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) probing the [2005] assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri,” the statement said.

The bloc added that “some parties participating in the government are openly declaring their rejection of STL, and and are protecting the suspects accused of killing Hariri.”

Both Suleiman and Mikati said during their visits to UN in New York that Lebanon cannot be selective in implementing U.N. resolutions. Both reiterated Lebanon’s commitment to U.N. resolutions, including Resolution 1757 that established the STL.

Hezbollah-led March 8 parties – which currently dominate Lebanon’s cabinet – have opposed a clause in the Lebanese annual state budget pertaining to the funding of the tribunal.

Four Hezbollah members have been indicted by the STL. However, the Shiite group strongly denied the charges and refuses to cooperate with the court.

“The report broadcast by Al-Manar, which said that a meeting was held with the Syrian opposition this afternoon, was a complete fabrication and is in line with Hezbollah’s use of media to spread lies,” the MP said in a statement.

“Such a report is merely a fabrication that intends to incite strife,” Fatfat said

Al-Manar reported that Future Movement Secretary General Ahmad Hariri and Future bloc MP Khaled Daher met with Syrian opposition figures in the northern Lebanese town of Akroum earlier on Thursday.

Syrian president Bashar Assad’s security forces killed over 2200 pro-democracy protesters who are demanding freedom since mid-March.
Activists reported that 473 protesters were killed during the holy month of Ramadan

“Bassil’s decision to forbid Chantaf from entering the ministry is a militia act and shows Bassil’s desire to turn Lebanon into a dictatorship, ” adding Bassel behaved as if the ministry is his own private property “.

” The statement stressed that as a public official Bassel should have taken notes and answered the questions of Chantaf in a decent manner and that he should know that the ministry is a public property for all the Lebanese people “.

The statement also condemned Bassil’s style in dealing with journalists, adding that “such a style is mastered by his father -in -law Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun who holds journalists responsible for his failures and for the world’s crises and attempts to keep them quiet.”

Future News television reported on Wednesday that Bassil informed Chantaf that he is no longer allowed to enter the Energy Ministry building

As Safir reported that the meeting was the beginning of cooperation between Jumblatt, MPs Michel Aoun, Suleiman Franjieh, Hezbollah , Amal and Future movements.
However, Ad-Diyar reported it is too early to discuss about a new coalition deal between Jumblatt and another party, since the Druze leader has stressed that he would neither tilt towards the March 14 coalition nor towards the March 8 forces.
