Hariri: Assad a murderer on par with Israel

Former Lebanese prime minister Saad al-Hariri, whose father was killed in a bombing often pinned on Syria, said on Wednesday that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was leading a murderous campaign against his own people.

“There is a murderer called Bashar al-Assad’s regime, who commits daily, red-handed, dozens of killings documented in video and audio all over Syria,” Hariri, speaking live on camera from abroad to a meeting of his Mustaqbal party in Beirut, said. (more…)

Norman Farrell replaces Bellemare as STL prosecutor

Deputy Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY)  ,  Judge Norman Farrell is the new Prosecutor of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, succeeding his fellow Canadian, the outgoing Daniel Bellemare, according to a statement by UN Secretary General  Ban Ki-moon. MP Hamadeh: Hezbollah appointed Jreissati as new labor minister

March 14 MP Marwan Hamadeh confirmed on Sunday Ya Libnan’s report which revealed that the newly appointed Labor Minister Salim Jreissati “was appointed by Hezbollah.”

STL to issue more indictments shortly

The indictments in the assassination of former Communist party chief George Hawi and attempted assassinations of former ministers Marwan Hamadeh and Elias Murr which will soon be issued by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon may result in new leads to other assassinations that had taken place in Lebanon,according to a report by the An Nahar newspaper on Sunday. Mikati met Hariri in Paris

Lebanon Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who is on an official two-day visit to France, met his predecessor, head of the Future Movement MP Saad Hariri, who is in Paris recovering from injuries he suffered while skiing the French Alps last January according to Hariri’s press.

In an interview with L’Orient Le Jour published Thursday, Mikati said that he planned to visit Hariri but that the talks would not be political.
