The Phalange party on Sunday denied as “baseless” a report in the Ad-Diyar newspaper that it was planning to sell its headquarters in Saifi district of Beirut to former Prime Minister Najib Miqati.
Miqati’s office also issued a statement denying Ad-Diyar’s report which claimed that the former premier intended to buy the Phalange headquarters for $20 million.
The party “stresses that such information is not true” and the party’s headquarters “cannot be sold or bought,” the Phalange said in a statement. (more…)
March 14 MP Okab Sakr said that while he fully supports the elimination of political sectarianism, the timing of the issue is bad. Sakr denied reports of any disputes within the March 14 alliance, in particular between the Future Movement and the Kataeb Party. “Anyone who tries to isolate any member of the March 14 alliance, be it Kataeb leader Amin Gemayel or Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea, will fail because he will have to isolate all of Lebanon before isolating them.”
Al-Afkar magazine: Phalange Party leader and former Lebanese president Amin Gemayel said that his party broke off from the March 14 alliance to follow an independent path. He stressed, however, that the party still believes in the principles of March 14 and the Cedar Revolution. Gemayel also said that keeping Hezbollah’s arms contradicts international resolutions. He also accused Syria of failing to finalize the border demarcation with Lebanon and not acknowledging that the Shebaa farms are Lebanese. Source: Now Lebanon
