National dialogue in syria is admission of defeat, interview

Vladimir Ahmedov, a Russian expert in Middle East and North Africa said in an interview that for Syria the idea of a national dialogue is on par with an admission of defeat.

Sarkozy: Today’s missile threat, it’s Iran

France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy said Saturday that Iran poses the main threat of the type of rogue attack that NATO’s planned anti-missile defence shield is designed to foil.

National Dialogue talks postponed till Nov 4

The Lebanese national dialogue talks will convene on November 4 at 11:00 am at the presidential palace in Baabda, according to the presidential press office.

Lebanon dialogue talks to resume on August 19

UN envoy to Lebanon voices support for developing defense strategy

The top United Nations envoy to Lebanon today met with the minister in charge of administrative reform and voiced support for the country’s national dialogue, a reconciliation process, which will meet tomorrow to discuss developing a national defense strategy.

Michael Williams, the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, also expressed UN support for the reinforcement of Lebanon’s State institutions, during his discussions with the Minister of State for Administrative Reform, Mohammad Fneish, in the Lebanese capital, Beirut. (more…)
