Canadian police and intelligence agencies have made two arrests in connection with a planned major terrorist attack on a Via Rail passenger train in the Greater Toronto Area. Two suspects are in custody, one from Ontario and one from Quebec, following an RCMP counter-terrorism investigation.
At an afternoon news conference, the RCMP named the suspects as Chiheb Esseghaier and Raed Jaser, and said they were linked to al-Qaeda in Iran (more…)
Boston marathon bombing suspect captured alive but seriously injured
The suspect in the Boston marathon bombing is in police custody.
Dzharkhov Tsarnaev, 19, is said to be bleeding and in a serious condition. He has been taken to Massachussets General Hospital.
Police converged on a property said to be on Franklin Street in the Watertown suburb of Boston.
Tsarnaev had reportedly been hiding in a boat in a garden at the property. It is believed a helicopter using thermal imaging was used to check the boat. (more…)
The explosives used to kill three people and injure 176 at the Boston Marathon on Monday were likely some kind of “pressure-cooker” devices that sent sharp bits of shrapnel flying into victims in the vicinity of the blast, several law enforcement officials said Tuesday. (more…)
