A Molotov cocktail incendiary was thrown near Dbayeh’s ABC mall, the National News Agency reported on Friday.

Lebanese-Swede charged with terrorism in Thailand

A man who Thai police say led them to tons of bombmaking components told reporters he is not a terrorist, then pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of illegally possessing explosive materials.

Atris Hussein, a 47-year-old Swedish citizen of Lebanese origin, is accused of possessing nearly 3,000 kilograms (6,500 pounds) of ammonium nitrate, a fertilizer that can be used to make explosives. (more…)

Al-Qaeda-inspired group claims responsibility for Damascus bombings

Meanwhile, fresh violence erupted in the eastern part of Syria as an al-Qaeda-inspired group claimed responsibility for two recent suicide bombings in the capital.

In a statement posted Wednesday on a militant website, an Islamist group called the Al-Nusra Front to Protect the Levant claimed responsibility for twin suicide bombings in Damascus on Saturday. The blasts, which targeted the air force intelligence building and the criminal security department, killed at least 27 people, the state-run news agency said. (more…)

Assad regime accuses ‘foreign terrorists’ for dozens murdered in twin bombings

Two large explosions have struck security targets in the Syrian capital, Damascus, killing at least 27 people and wounding up to 100, the country’s state news agency said.

The report said the “terrorist” blasts were caused by car bombs at the aviation intelligence department and a police building at around 7.30am local time. No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks. (more…)

Mikati: Al Qaeda cell uncovered in Lebanese Army

The Lebanese military has evidence that an al-Qaida group was operating within its ranks, the country’s prime minister declared.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nijab Mikati said military authorities uncovered a terrorist cell in its ranks. The group, believed to be tied to the Abdullah Azzam Brigades, was allegedly planning attacks on military barracks. (more…)
