    OR, he could pay off our public debt which is a bit more sufficient. Lebanon can’t be sold to anyone mate

    Carlos Slim Helu might be the richest man but the question is how much of his material wealth will he be taking with him after this long life.

    I just want to remind the viewers a passage from the bible that talks about wealth.
    The young man had obeyed the commandments by his behavior. But his questions showed his mistake. He was a wealthy man. He did not steal anything. He did not kill anybody. But he was very selfish. His liked to please himself. Thousands of Jews were very poor, and this man had great wealth. He loved his possessions very much, and he was not going to give them up. He would not even give them up for Jesus. He would not even give them up for eternal life.
    Jesus looked at him and loved him. You need one thing, he said. Go and sell all your possessions. Give the money to poor people. Then you will have real wealth, in heaven. Then come! Follow me!
    If the young man did this, he would show his love for God. It would be greater than his love for his possessions. This would please God.
    But this man loved his wealth. And the way that he lived. He was not going to give it up and follow a poor teacher. So, the young man sadly walked away.
    Jesus then said something else which surprised the disciples.
    Jesus looked at his disciples. He said, It’s very hard for rich people to belong to the Kingdom of God! The disciples were surprised at his words. But Jesus said again, Children, it is very hard to belong to the Kingdom of God! It is easier to go through the small hole in a needle than a rich man to join the Kingdom of God.

    Nice one

    If I had Mr. Helu’s wealth I would pay all Lebanese public debt. With the 2.5 billion dollars left I will buy an island in the middle of nowhere and a big plane, put ALL our politicians on it and send them to that island with no phones nor email nor roads nor electricity, pretty much like where the people of the TV series LOST ended up.

  • Fadi Abboud

    nice parable

  • Gussy

    Carlos arrrived to Lebanon as the No. 1 and the richest man in the world. He should enjoy it this week, since he will be leaving Lebanon as the number 10.

    the rotschilds net worth.

    I was wondering what their net worth is. According to Forbes it’s just $1.5 billion in total (for the whole family). Even though it is said that they were estimated to be worth $6 billion in 1850. I would find it hard to believe that such shrewd business family would lose such an incredible amount of value during the last century and a half. It’s even rumoured that around the 1850’s that they owned half of the world finance. But I don’t know if that is confirmed financially.

    Btw… 1 dollar now is worth (has the buying power of) about what 4 cents was worth in 1913, due to inflation over the last century according to republican congressman Ron Paul. So $6 billion in 1913 would be equivalent to more than $150 billion today.

    And according to the website I linked above, $6 billion in 1913 would be equivalent to $1.9 trillion today!!

    There are even rumors that they’re worth $100 trillion!!!. Now what is real???

    What are they really worth??? According to Forbes the richest man in the world is Bill Gates, and the Richest family is the Walton family. The Rotschilds are somewhere down the line, but in the top 100 though.. Well if that’s true, then they’ve lost at least 98% of their fortune since 1850. Now I find that hard to believe.

    the above is an article i read on the net and not from me as i was googling the above topic. the same question goes for the Rothmans which all arabs support by buying their cigarettes. funny how they never get talked about or even the rockefellers. hmmmmmmm!!

    Evelyn Rothschild (or any of the dynasty for that matter) Net Worth – Half the world
    Some estimate Rothschild’s net worth could be as high as hundreds of trillions. To appreciate the Rothschild’s ability to sustain and increase their wealth and avoid the scrutiny of both the public, the markets, and the state taxation system, consider the story of the death of Edouard Rothschild, of the French House. Anticipating the death of Eduoard in 1949, Rothschild agents began to sell their majority stock holdings of Royal Dutch Shell, Rio Tinto and Le Nickel ( giant mining corporation ) to drive down the price of shares just prior to his death to reduce the value of the estate that was subject to taxation by the French Government. This selling created a panic in the world markets depressing stock prices further. A few days following the death of Eduoard, Rothschild agents bought the volume of stock back at depressed prices, and his reported estate wealth was taxed at the depressed price on the day of his death.
    The French House (Baron Edmond de Rothschild et.al.)
    The French House, which was most recently headed by the Baron Edmond de Rothschild, was the most powerful private merchanting banking arm and ran the Compaigne Fincanciere, a world wide organization which builds villas, hotels, pipelines, and finances other banks. Rothschild Freres, run by cousin Baron Guy Eduoard, was the largest private bank in France. The French House also controlled mining companies ( De Beers and gold mines in South Africa ) , metal plants ( Rio Tinto ), oil interests ( Royal Dutch Shell ) , and chemical industries (Morton, 1962).

    David Rockefeller (or anyone from this dynasty) Net Worth – 1/3 the world
    The combined wealth of the family – its total assets and investments plus the individual wealth of its members – has never been known with any precision. The records of the family archives relating to both the family and individual members’ net worth is closed to researchers.
    Much of the wealth has been locked up in the notable family trust of 1934 and the trust of 1952, both administered by the Chase Manhattan Bank. These trusts have consisted of shares in the successor companies to Standard Oil (Exxon Mobil) other diversified investments, as well as the family’s considerable real estate holdings. They are administered by a powerful trust committee that oversees the fortune. It has consisted over time of high-profile individuals, which have included Paul Volcker, William G. Bowen (former president of Princeton University) and John C. Whitehead (retired co-chairman of Goldman Sachs).[citation needed]
    In 1992, it had five main arms:
    • Rockefeller & Co. (Money management: Universities have invested some of their endowments in this company);
    • Venrock Associates (Venture Capital: an early investment in Apple Computer was one of many it made in Silicon Valley entrepreneurial start-ups);
    • Rockefeller Trust Company (Manages hundreds of family trusts);
    • Rockefeller Insurance Company (Manages liability insurance for family members);
    • Acadia Risk Management (Insurance Broker: Contracts out policies for the family’s vast art collections, real estate and private planes.)

    Elizabeth II (Queen of Eng) Net Worth – Apprx. $30 Trillion
    The largest landowner on earth is revealed in Mainstream’s new book Who Owns the World.
    Queen Elizabeth II, head of state of the United Kingdom and of 31 other states and territories, is the legal owner of about 6,600 million acres of land, one sixth of the earth’s non ocean surface.
    She is the only person on earth who owns whole countries, and who owns countries that are not her own domestic territory. This land ownership is separate from her role as head of state and is different from other monarchies where no such claim is made – Norway, Belgium, Denmark etc.
    Value of her land holding. £17,600,000,000,000 (approx). However, there is no way to easily value her real estate. There is no current market in the land of entire countries. At a rough estimate of $5,000 an acre, and based on the sale of Alaska to the USA by the Tsar, and of :Louisiana to the USA by France, the Queen’s land holding is worth a notional $33,000,000,000,000 (Thirty three trillion dollars or about £17,600,000, 000,000 trillion pounds) Her holding is based on the laws of the countries she owns and her land title is valid in all the countries she owns.. Her main holdings are Canada, the 2nd largest country on earth, with 2,467 million acres, Australia, the 7th largest country on earth with 1,900 million acres, the Papua New Guinea with114 million acres, New Zealand with 66 million acres and the UK with 60 million acres.
    Understandably you might say Queen won’t exercise her legal rights, but she is the legal owner and in cases of no heirs she just gets it w/o taking it by law. I’d also say she won’t exchange her legal claims for $0 as her net worth indicates.

    Don’t take this as me not liking the Queen. I love her and all the gold/fiat currency she appears on (in alphabetic order). Hmm, how many bills is Bill on?

    Queen Elizabeth does not own all that wealth and Land, it is the British Monarchy that does. She cannot dispose of all of this wealth on her own. She has no say on all of this. She can only claim she is the “care-taker”. Most of her wealth has been inherited from hundreds of years back….She will watch it until her death and another monarch will come to watch it until his death, etc….

  • tony

    according to you.

  • Ask my mum

    Louay, my comment was sarcastic, I know Lebanon can’t be bought, what we own in this life time is not our position but a human way to control our lives. To which further attests to Sebouh’s comment about our worldly possessions not getting us into heaven.
    Then again Mate, if you want to talk about ownership as we like to think about it , well the lebs don’t own Lebanon its the Arabs, Americans , French etc etc.
    I hope you didnt get upset because i was trying to sell lebanon to Carlos, plus i did mention there would be some conditions on the sale. Man i love how internet allows us to have meaningless converations. i especially love how quickly people and especially the lebs get upset.

    TONY: If people want to read news papers,they will buy their own and read it.You don’t have to copy pages of the news and past it on this web site.You are boring.When you say:For those who don’t know the rothschilds,it show how naive and silly the way you show your knowledge.People on this web way ahead of you and they know more than you could imagine.Your funny calculation don’t add up period.To compare Queen Elizabeth to Mr.SLIM none sense.Slim is a self billionaire .The queen’s wealth’s inherited.

  • Nazih Massoud

    You all proud of our stars whether Olympic representative or fashion designer like Sonia es yet no body proud of Mr slim the self billionaire.I think we need a lot more like him to help lebanon.

  • Jamil

    No one can be that rich unless he or is corrupted and legitimate robber of the people., i.e., that wealth is from paying off politicians, running under ground businesses via mobs, that take from the poor , and enriches the self.

  • http://RottenLebaneseSectarianSystem Sebouh Akharjalian

    Jamil it seems you are reading my mind.

    I totally agree with you…..

  • http://YALIBNAN.com Dalal

    HD speak for yourself its interesting to read what Tony has posted..plz respect others and dont undermine other people ..its stupid and arreogant

  • tony

    dont worry about HD Dalal. this person is full of anger. he/she is always posting nrgative comments against anything i say. when i commented against israel he laughed at me, when i comment about hezbollah he slams me. in this incident, i am trying to show how jews and influential european leaders are never mentioned in forbes which i find very questionable and HD likes to disagree yet again. don’t waste your typing on this person. i totally ignore his/her comments. he even made fun of my name at one point which i found hilarious.

    thank you Dalal for your comment. i think HD has a lot of anger he needs to sort out.

    HD, your comments are never constructive and you never actually offer anything to the table. you only attack my views, if you have anything meaningful to say offer it cos its very easy to criticize but its very hard to offer solutions. i can easily criticize your initials, your bad spelling and grammar but this will be the only time and last time that i actually do this as i like to stick to healthy debates and i love reading people’s opinions as that’s what free speach is all about.

    if you notice HD poeple don’t attack each other on this forum, they negotiate and discuss issues. can you try doing that?

    much love and peace from Canada Dalal and thank you again for your comment.
