Lebanon’s Minister of Health Mohammad Jawad Khalife told an Nahar that Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah was in very critical condition when he was admitted to the hospital on Friday but his condition has stabilized .

Lebanon’s most influential Shiite cleric was admitted to Bahman Hospital in the southern Beirut suburb of Haret Hreik on Friday . There were rumors that his condition deteriorated and died but the hospital denied the rumors.

Fadlallah “was admitted to the hospital with internal bleeding,” an official from his media office said, adding that doctors were following up his case. The bleeding was reportedly caused by complications from a liver problem
