A mini summit in Lebanon to ease the tension

Lebanon First bloc MP Nohad al-Mashnouq told Reuters news agency on Wednesday that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad will visit Lebanon on Friday along with Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz.

Baabda palace is reportedly gearing up to welcome the 2 Arab leaders for summit talks with President Michel Suleiman aimed at easing the tension in Lebanon, following the reports of Hezbollah indictments by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon ( STL)

Earlier media reports said Assad would visit Lebanon August 3.

Assad’s trip to Lebanon will be his first since 2005, when relations between both countries took a downturn following the assassination of Lebanon’s former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

According to An Nahar Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani may also attend the summit .

Suleiman has been calling for calm , but Hezbollah and its allies have launched a well organized campaign against the STL following a July 20 report in the pro-Syrian newspaper, Al Safir which revealed that Hezbollah members will be indicted by STL in the 2005 assassination of Hariri.

An open letter to dear Mr. Hariri:

What has been lost has been lost; One day will come again when the middle east somehow will achieve peace (maybe after the war of wars, or maybe not, cause does not matter here)

My point is this. The way Mr. Hariri plays this could gain him a lot of popularity now and incrementally increasing into the future as other sects see the good from it. Popularity from all sects of Lebanon and not just sunni. Can you do the right thing Mr. Hariri? I believe you can.

One day will come when there is peace in the middle east. One day will come when Lebanon’s economy and tourism will boon. One day will come when Lebanese will be more open minded and more educated. One day will come when they will realize that you are their natural choice Mr. Hariri. You are educated, well liked in manners, good looking, respectable, and have charisma. Your hands are not bloody like the rest. Please keep them that way too.

In the meantime it is very critical that you play it right. And that starts by not alienating the Shia of Lebanon. Actually by not alienating anyone who is on their side either (Aoun, Jumblatt, Franjieh, Arslan, Karami, etc.)

So far you are on the right track and slowly becoming my hero. God bless your efforts.

P.S: Can anyone tell me how I can get this to him or yet where better to post it? Thanks you

Lebanon is free and will remain free. Not syria and not the killers of hizbolla will change anything. This summit will not chánge the criminal syrian regime or the fanatic killers of hizbolla. These killers have no place in lebanon and they are encouraged to find a good democratic place in syria and iran.

I see lots of wisheful thinking up here, we can’t survive and prosper and achieve peace by good wishing.
why not post all those good wishes to Nesrallah, Aoun, Wahab , bashar etc. countries are built and prospered by good planning, learning from mistakes, achieving just by setting up the proper LWAS that everyone should abide.Lebanon is not free as long as its faith is decided everywhere else except in Lebanon. Lebanon will not be free until justice is served, the political system and the polititians are corrupted in Lebanon and there is no LAW the big fish eats the small one…. every Law has to be revamped, every road has to be redone, every politician should be responsible against strict rules and laws and people should respect the laws they set, and respect the country they live in by caring about it and caring about one another. no one will be safe until the christian safe guard the moslim rights and moslim safe guard the Druze rights and so on. there are religions and sects identities in Lebanon, not one National identity that everyone love and respect. until then we can wish and dream but I am afraid wishes will not materialize until we reform ourselves and do what’s good for our country……

yeah post it up your ass.wake up there is no lebanon.its just a playing field for the super rich to do as they will.they will even have their wars and parties on our land.hariri is just a puppet.who are the puppet masters?if someone killed my dad i would hang them up by their balls while skinning them alive.march 14 with israel , usa ,france and the rest of the western junkies should attack syria, while cutting off all supplies to hesbollah , encircle hesbollah into a corner and kill the life out of it. sooner or later they will run out of supplies.dont get me wrong the western junkies are just as evil as the iranians. yet i ask you who is the better evil. what would you prefer constant war mongering with israel or a peace treaty and prosperity like jordan and egypt has with israel.sooner or later there will be no lebanon. it will be split in the middle.the north to syria the south to israel and once again the poor lebanese will be raped and pillaged like it has being for thousands of years.
