Gemayel: Hezbollah must yield to the sole authority of the State

Share:

MP Nadim Gemayel said in a speech on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the assassination of his father former president Bashir Gemayel: We don’t fear anyone, neither local nor foreign.

He said : Bashir ( Gemayel) established a State even before he assumed power.

He added: We believe that the rights of the Christians cannot be achieved outside the framework of the State and the Christians are the pioneers of the renaissance.

Commenting on the so called resistance he said: “Hezbollah must yield to the sole authority of the State, because it has chosen the State of war while the Lebanese have chosen the State of peace.”

Commenting on the situation in Lebanon he said: The Lebanese entity is facing the test of unity, although the national decision is under foreign influence.

Commenting on relations with Syria he said: Our dispute with Syria is over its never-ending scheme to dominate Lebanon. He added : The realization of Syria’s dominance required the assassination of Bashir Gemayel, Kamal Jumblatt, Rene Mouawad and Rafik Hariri, and we hold it responsible for all these murders.

Commenting on Phalange party relations with the March 14 alliance he said : We have always been with “Lebanon First”, and let no one try to give us lessons in patriotism. Our question to those accusing us: Is defending Iran at Lebanon’s expense an acceptable option?

He concluded : Phalange Party is proud of its heroic history.

During a press conference earlier on Wednesday,Phalange MP Sami Gemayel said “the Lebanese resistance during the civil war … had no choice but to use the devil [Israel] in order to defend itself, [because] it was confronting the Syrian and Palestinian armies.”

Yes Laila you favor the chaos of Aoun, Wahab and 2 Syyed’s. Yes we’re tired of so called Lebanese like you who likes to promote division and bring destruction to lebanon. You prefer the monkeys of Iran and pussycats of Syria over your country of course. All Nadim is promoting peace and idiots like you critcize him. What would you even do if he was promoting hostility like Nassrallah on regular basis. He comes on TV like a monster in the dark and he threatens to kill and destroy. He’s nothing by a tyrants just like followers like you. If Bashir was alive, Lebanon will be not just powerful. But it would be clean of scummbags and terrorists and extremists. Imagine you prefer the chaos of Syria, Iran, Fatah al islam and other extremists who rules lebanon now. I am sick and tired of people like you who doesn’t appreciate the peacemakers instead of troublemakers like your buddy Aoun. What did Aoun do for lebanon tell me one damn good thing he did? what did Syria do for lebanon being there for over 30 yrs? what does Iran wants from lebanon other than to pay for its mortazqa HA army to fight israel. And now it wants to pay LAF so it will help HA in its fight against Israel. What do you really people want? go to hell and leave lebanon alone damn it.

      1. George, I am not alone with my feeling. Thank you

this guys (gemayel) speech makes sense he is a politician doing his best for his people and ultimately lebanon. Using Israel for support was a decision that had to be made just like auon is using hezballah.

  3. Nadim, hats off to you. Well stated and resolute facts. We must keep syria out of Lebanon and this may cost us many lives. Please be safe and careful. Bashir you are missed.

    1. All of you attacking Laila, why is she an idiot? all she said was that our leaders (all of them) are puppets and we can never get rid of outside influences because of that.

Ali, you say “We must keep syria out of Lebanon and this may cost us many lives” ok thats fair enough but do you want to keep it out at the cost of dealing with the “devil” as gemayel called it??

      1. ba3den why is he going against his own PM hariri and accusing syria again? not saying that anything has been proven and that syria is innocent but I thought “unity” meant stop stirring up trouble with accusations left and right.

when march 8 says that, they are kleb and undermining the lebanese authorities.

Ali thank you and I appreciate your moderate positions when posting here. I can tell you are have a great and objective mind. Unlike many narrow minded here who are trying to convince us that Iran, Syria and HA are good for Lebanon. I equate them with israel because all 4 groups had done nothing but destroyed Lebanon. They want to tell us that Syrian rulers are friendly to us compare to israel. How can we accept that after they have brought nothing but destruction to lebanon. All they want to do suck the lifeline of lebanon and control it as its part of Syria. Hafez Al Assad always wanted to merge Lebanon with Syria. And he was very vocal about it. People say we have no war with syria. How can that not be when they’re always attacking us via their plo soldiers, or fatah al islam? or HA or many other groups they send our ways. If we want to a united lebanon. then it has to be against israel first, syria, iran and anyone internally who stands to bring chaos into lebanon.

    1. Why dont we forget the world around us and see what our politician are doing to Lebanon.

  8. My feelings and views of all the traditional political households are well known at this site. I wish Lebanese people, who pride themselves with high education, would wake up one day and stop supporting those families. It’s hard for me to believe that a party like the phalange party, can not find a qualified Lebanese to head this party, except the Gemayl family. Isn’t there really anymore smart people who can take such responsibility? Is this a family/party? Are we going to stay a tribal society for ever?

Haven’t these families done enough damage to this country?

    1. Aside from my views of the political house holds and their kids,

Nadine is just another young politician who decided to inherit a legacy full of killings, crimes, and betrayal. I believe He had a choice to distance himself from the tainted past of his family.

It would have been better for him , and for all Lebanese , if He had taken a different political path . His was not even born when his family allied themselves with the enemy of Lebanon. He didn’t have to carry that heavy load on his shoulder, unless he feels that He has to compete with his cousin Sami. Tow young cousins competing for the spotlight and leadership of their inherited party, and the rest of Lebanese are lost in the cheering on. They both claim to speak on behalf of the Christians of Lebanon.

My question is; how many elected members do they have at the parliament?

No one is denying that they do have their followers, but do they have enough to make that claim?

We know where their fathers took us; do we know where the two young politicians will take us? I’m afraid to imagine or predict.

      3. ya Profits I will have to agree with you on the fact that these are inherited posts just like beik, hariri etc and that no matter what there is only 1 family who will rule each party. I agree that all the prominent names or dynasties should be removed from power and allow new blood to govern and that includes that douchebag berri ya profitz 🙂

On the flipside to this, I got to hand it to Nadim for his speach, this kid has alot of balls and i agree with his comments towards syria, i just hope he doesnt get clipped because of his fiery rhetoric. I think with the recent grovelling and defection to syria by beik hariri etc, these guys are isolated with no backing and HA is swimming like sharks waiting for the kill (or on standby from syria)

  20. A prove of Syria INTERFERENCE.

A story about a meeting that took place in 1975 0r 1976 between Syria president Assad, and a group of Lebanese politicians from the Lebanese forces that included Camil Chamooun, Piere Gemayel. Chamooun was telling Assad about the History of the maronite Christians, and that many of them had emigrated from Syria over a thousand years agao, when Assad interrupted him to question the Phenician claim by many Maronites. Chamooun, taken back by the surprise question, resorted to his humor and wit, and replied; well Mrs. President, That exactly when the Syrian interference had started in Lebanon’s politics.

May God save Lebanon from old timers like Aoun, Berri and Wahan and jumblatts who brought nothing but destruction to Lebanon. They still do and to my surprise they are many idiots who follow them blindly withouth ever questioning their authorities. We talk about tribal system then you’re contradicting yourself when saying the same thing about people who says we follow gemeyal. We don’t follow him because his name is popular. We don’t follow him because he’s christian. We don’t follow him period. we follow the peacemakers and those who wants to bring peace and prosperity to lebanon. We don’t to follow the lords of kiaos and destruction like Berri, Nassrallah and Aoun. They’ve done nothing to construct lebanon. all they do is follow syria’s and irans orders and nothing to do with helping lebanon but only to help themselves.

At least Israel has no interest to swallow Lebanon as everyone speculated. It’s a cheap excuse.

Lebanon was lost since Bachir got killed

Lebanon will never witnesses a strong honest committed leader as bachir.

This time, the LB and kataeb are back to stand against everyone try to put us in a danger. Time will tell. No Syria and no Iran nor HA will stand against us. Hariri is llosing it these days because of syria but our people will split off Hariri very soon due to the changes in his politic and opinions. Syria is setting him up walking along with him and at the other hand pushing other such Sayyed to revolt against him. Lebanon will witness soon a coup d’état and may god will help us cause they will be chasing our leaders . Are the US given Lebanon to syria to stand or to hold HA? It’s dangerous game on our account

    1. Jean,

Bashir was the biggest traitor ever.

I’ll leave it at that. The man is dead now, and let’s move on. There is no point of going back to that period.

Bashir was not a traitor to his country. On the Contrary its the Shiites BANDITS in Dahia and the South who are traitors to their country. They gave it to the foreginers in its entirety. Unlike Bashir who refused to give Lebanon to israel. We’re in that period now because Hezbollah are choking the peace and the freedom of Lebanese. Forcing it to go back to 10 century with its rules and control. Waliat Al Faqih ruled by Nassrallah and Qassem. Is this what you want? These are the devils of Lebanon who were born in Iran. they killed the only true leader of the shiites Imam Moussa al Sadr who was a true lebanese. he was killed by Iran and Libya because they accused him of being a traitor to Lebanon. Just like now hezbollah accusing anyone who goes against them of being a traitor. The traitors who submerged its nation in blood in 2006? the traitors who choked the economy afterward? the traitors who calls themselves muslims attacked fellow muslims and killed their children? the traitors who marched to Druze mountains to slaughter them. As if they were israeli soldiers. talk about traitors allright..

  31. Nadime, I’ll give you a brief history of your father. Your father established a state within the state of Lebanon. He set up His court system. He set up his own Police force. He built his own port. He tried to build his dream state. He set up his own tax collection system. His dream state was not a state for all Lebanese.

When he failed to make his dream true, He resorted to Israel, and invited them to invade Lebanon. He even aided the enemy against his own people. He murdered many of his own people Muslims and Christians alike. He killed Muslims because he wanted a pure Christian area, and killed Christians who opposed him.

Maybe you, as a young leader, would take a different path; So Lebanese would forgive your father for his crimes. You can inherit his name and his political household, but you don’t have to inherit his deadly legacy. You don’t have to inherit his mistakes

Prophet, from your description of Bashir, it seems Hassan Nasrallah and HA is doing now exactly the same thing and more (establishing a state within the state)….

At least at the time of Bashir everyone was establishing a state within a state (Jumblat, Franjieh, Amal, the Palestinians, etc…) However, now we have a state and no one other than HA is challenging the state and forbidding it from rising and take its role 100% on all the Lebanese territory.

Most of all, Bashir was loyal to LEBANON and only Lebanon, but HA who knows they are loyal to whom? The Iranians, the Syrians, may be a little bit to Lebanon…?

    Just some food for thought…

Well said Constantin i could not have said it better. For those who calls themselves non-followers of any party certainly seems to defend ferociaclly without hesitations. labeling others as traitors without looking at their own leaders who are taking them and everyone to hell if the continue on their path. Bashir was killed simply because he defied israel. They call him a traitor but when they and they’re syrian masters embraced Elie Hobeikah who was the commander in charge when LF attacked sabra and Shatila. I guess Elie was okay to them.. what a bunch of hypocrites.

      1. To me Bashir wa a Hero a human one but one you try to get the Syrian hegemony out of Lebanon.

He was, and he will always be a true patriotic. Because is allegiance was for Lebanon, not Isreal.

The syrian and it allies within lebanon wanted him dead.

So please don’t call a man who give is life for lebanon a traitor.

This prophet show you putting your emotion before any recognition of the fact that he was trying to get Syria out!!!

Calling him a traitor is calling all lebanese who are for lebanon first traitor.

        This logic is counter productive.

Our real enemy is anyone who wants to dominate lebanon ….

Number one in my list is :

Syria,Iran… Isreal want division not domination. Isreal want us to fight each other…notthing else and serving the Isreali cause is Ha … Syria know also if Lebanon is strong internally they will never dominate us…

So please lets focus on the positive not the past!!

I have exchanged with you before, and I think you are reasonable ,even when we didn’t agree. I try not to get emotional here. I spress my emtions as much as I can. At the end of the day I’m Human.

I respect your feelings about Bashir being your hero.

Part of the problem in Lebanon is that everyone has his own hero.

To me, the greatest majority of those heroes are not Heroes.

If you read my comment to Constantine, You would know how I feel about all the warlords of Lebanon.

I hope we all can debate honestly and objectively. If everyone ha s his heros, then non of them were wrong. If non of them were wrong, how the hell did we end up where we are. Don’t you think it’s about time we all start admitting where everyone went wrong?

Are we going to spend the rest of our lives defending Bashie, Berri, Jumblat,Aoun, Nassralla, and the list goes on?

I’m being very sincere in this discussion. We need to bravery to see everyone’s mistake and admit it. We can’t go on in circle ,defending “our heroes”

I for once, A person who lost family to the following groups : The kataeb(during Basir’s period), the Syrians( young nephew killed for no reason, Berri’s Amel wars in the 80’s, The Israelis( more than 10 family members) The LB( During Gegaa’s time),and lost close friends to the ‘south Lebanese army(childhood friend poisoned for 8 years at Al khiam, and then tortured to death because his father was a communist, when his family took his body, His eyes were removed )And two other relatives were killed by the same murderers for no reason.

BTW none of the people I mentioned ever carried a gun. Those who fought fighting, knew the risk they were taken.

You explain to me now how I should feel?

I have to disagree with you on this one.

If we don’t examine our history and admit where people made mistakes, we’ll never be able to build a state where we all can live in peace.

The facts about Bashir are clear. I usually don’t like to bash dead people, no matter who they are and what they have done.It started with a response to a comment.

My views of all the warlords of the 70 and 80 and 90 are well known.

I’ve called for trying all of them, from Jumblat to Berri to all the leaders who were part of a destruction gang . I don’t distinguish between any of them, They all killed us for different reasons. Don’t take my view of Bashir as personal . I hate all of them for different reasons. They all had few thing in common, ; power , control, corruption .

If it wasn’t for them we would not be talking about HA . HA would have never existed.

We still have a chance to rebuild this country, but we have to be able to look at ourselves in the mirrors and admit where we went wrong. Truth always hurt.

If you want to deny what Bashir did,and the others deny what Berii or Jumblat did, then we will be running in a circle for the short life we will live. I JUST FEEL SORRY FOR OUR CHILDREN WHO WILL HAVE IT WORSE THEN US.

      1. Ya Prophet,

I mourn your lost, I mourn the lost of all our lebanese brothers. I share the pain of all Lebanese who lost family friends…

I think your right we should look in our inner self and ask the real question.

What can I do to make my country a peaceful one.

You see in my opinion accusing each other of all that went wrong in lebanon would not serve any one, it with only serve those who wants us to be devide.

I think that we all agree on who is our enemy. I believe that my enemy is myself first.

I have to fight myself to look at ways to become more human.

If all of us do that we will begin to say let us buried the past and look at the futur.

We all have sensitivity when we talk about our political and religious conviction.

When we attack our conviction it hurt. So why do it?? So instead lets focus on what bring us together and respect and forgive each other.

That way I believe we will built lasting peace.

May God bless you Prophet and I will never call you scumbag because you are a son of god and a fellow lebanese…

I almost sure that every one at this site has lost loved ones during the war period . I’m sure they all feel the pain, and the hatred that comes with it.

I’m not here to hurt anyone’s feeling. I’m a victim as much as any of them.

Regardless of who and how all these loved ones were lost, the end game is the same. Families with no fathers, kids growing up without a parents, Parents mourning the lost of their kid until the day they die, sisters and brothers missing their siblings, and so on.

If I’m a scumbag for saying that Bashir did this or Berri did that or Gegaa did this, Then I’M THE PROUDEST SCUMBAG OF ALL PEOPLE. SCUMBAG BECOMES AN HONOR FOR ME.

Those who want to be stubborn and live in denial let them be miserable for the rest of their lives. Let them warship their “heroes” and live in an illusion because they hate reality. The lose is theirs, and not mine. But I feel for them, and fear their stubbornness, and their hatred. I fear what they teach their children.

Unless they wake up, and start realizing that they could be the heroes, They will spend the rest of their lives imprisoned in their own hatred and ignorance. The worst is when they pass their legacy to their children.

Our society needs therapy. A therapy, similar to DRUG therapy that starts with admission. .

I have not seen one word coming from you here on ya libnani criticizing any opposition members. You don’t admit to any mistakes made by them. But its easy for you to attack anyone who else who opposes hezbollah. You have people died in the war and we did too. All the people and friends that i know and close to got killed by hezbollah. go to hell you and them.

      3. Tarie,

You fit the description of those I was talking about.

If I was a follower of any party, I would be proud to declare that.. The fact that I’m a supporter of anyone, who defends Lebanon, does not make me a follower of any party.

I supported the resistance against Israel before the creation of HA. I remember the days when the communist party and all the leftist parties were fighting Israel; some people accused me of being a communist. I respect any party for resisting and defending against Israel’s aggression.

That being said, I have issues with HA as well as all Lebanese parties. If you become resistance, not likely though, I’d support you and be proud of you. Until you learn to respect yourself, and others, you can go screw yourself too

    4. MARC, Thank you.

A therapy, similar to DRUG therapy that starts with admission. .

  39. Guys I have made an observation regarding the demographics of the users of this website. Correct me if I’m wrong but the overwhelming users are Maronite and are followers of either Kataeb or Forces. As a muslim I feel intimidated to make a comment. I also think since the majority of Muslims in Lebanon are poor and cant afford the internet let alone a computer in my view this website will always remain one sided. Please feel free to correct me if i’m wrong

Please everybody lets calm down for a second. It is obvious that no one in the whole civil war mix was innocent not even Gmayele.

The fact that innocent people died from all sides means that allllllll the various factions are wrong. Now to each one of you your leaders were leading your freedom fighters yet freedom fighters don’t kill innocent men, women and children.

Can we at least agree on that?

Now the fact that Gmayele was assasinated due to the fact that he wasn’t willing to bow down to Lebanon proves that he was patriotic and not willing to forsake his country. So yes he made mistakes (i guess also that depends on who’s perspective we are looking at) but you can’t deny to which country his loyalty belonged to. And I think it was Constantin who made a good point.

I think that the approach on how to criticize each others leaders is sensitive cause we take it as a personal offense when the remark is made against the socalled leader. Why? its cause we believe they represent and are a manifestation of our exact ideals and characters. Yet its not the truth. why? its because none of us here(i hope) would kill an innocent person regardless of his/her confession. Non of us here have enough blood lust to kill an innocent compatriot regardless of his/her confession(i hope).

Jean you are a good good man i know it for a fact, but i also know prophet is a good good man. Please the both of you lets us practice what all our prophets shared in all their characteristics. Humbleness.

Who was the phalangist made of then? all muslims? yes there were massacres on both sides but who started the whole fight? wasn’t arafat and his gangs? did you forget the north when plo killed many christians, in damour, in chouf, in many areas too in beirut. It was both ways and no one is saying christians were innocent but neither the side they were fighting. THe marada were bunch of killers too. But you don’t seem to be calling them gangs? just because now they’re buddy buddy with Nassrallah..that’s what i am talking about double standard. you’re full of it. as far as the resistance they didn’t exists before HA. besides there were Amal movement in the beginning and before iran and libya killed Imam Sadr. he was pretty much moderate and never fought against christians. You are so dishonest intellectually.

Have you read all of my comments?

Have you read what I said about all warlords?

I’ll make it simple for you to understand, Tarie; There is no difference between Bashir Gegaa ,Berri,Jumblat ort any of the warlords(Christians or Muslims) except that some worked for Israel, and others worked for Syria. Bashir was the first to commit cleansing massacres in east Beirut, starting with black Saturday (were my cousin was killed and thrown in the sea)

They all killed and murdered civilian Lebanese. I WON’T DEFEND ANY OF THEM.

You seem to know enough about what Israel knew. I just wonder how you knew. I won’t make any speculations or accusations, I think readers may figure that out easily, since you are a big fan of Bashir.

  53. Guys, we Lebanese people are much kinder than we look and much more naive than smart…we have a very short term memory and a short term vision politics wise. Sorry to say that, but here is my resoning for saying that:

There is no excuse dealing with an enemy to drive another enemy away, so it is no excuse for Gemayel to deal with ISREAL for any reason, for me this is fighting evil with more evil and the result cannot be in this case in the favor of LEBANON, actually the result was the genocide of thousands of palestinians and lebanese and the mark of civil was…so how did Gemayel do good for Lebanon by using ISREAL??!!

Is HezbUallah doing the same as what Gemayel family did not so long time ago but instead of using Isreal, it is using Iran and Syria??

I say it is not in so many ways yet it is still using evil to fight evil and the result would be thousands would die again and the result MIGHT be another civil war…which could be around the corner.

Is using Syria to control/limit HezbUallaj power advisable or effective?

In the short term yes, in the medium and long term no because we will be inviting Syria’s army again to Lebanon to stop the cold war for another possible CIVIL War.

Let me ask everyone this question?

Can civil war in Lebanon start if every sect in Lebanon was somehow equally powerful and has no ARMS to do any fireworks?

I say the only way to limit the foreign influence in our country wether it was Syria, Iran, USA, Saudi, France or whatever country is to truly swear loyalty to Lebanon and to our countrymen regardless to their sect or political views and affeliations.

    SAUDI = Muslim Sunni

    USA= Mainly Christian/JEW

    ISREAL= Zionist

    Iran= Shiaa

    LEBANON= Sunni + Shiaa + Christian + Durzi

You see we cannot have any of our political parties regardless to their SECT affliate with any of the above countries as non of the above countries understand the unique mix and mentality of the Lebanese people.

Let me ask everyone another question, WHEN IT WAS EVER IN FAVOR OF LEBANON TO HAVE FOREIGNERS INTERFER IN LEBANON’S MATTER?

My answer is it was never good neither in the medium nor in the longterm.

To all the politicians in Lebanon, instead of accusing each other with treason and SLEEPING, it is wake time to wake up for the truth and be LOYAL TO EACH OTHER by being just LOYAL to Lebanon and its people

    1. Jad,

Correction the USA has 1.7% “practicing jews” and 0.5% “culturally” born into judaism yet are totally non-religious. With that number as a minority you cannot label the USA as jewish UNLESS you consider Israel as the 53rd state (which in a way it is) 😛

On another hand, the mistrust in Lebanon, amongst its sects is deep and historically seated and unfortunately “inherited”. Let me give you an example: In 1860 an uprising by Maronite peasants against their MARONITE overlords turned Moslems against Christians and it EVER stuck SADLY. The Ottomans collected the weapons from the Christian peasants and villagers and PROMISED them the protection of the state. More than 20,000 Christians were massacred by the Druze mob and 380 Christian villages and 580 churches were destroyed. Now here is the twist and the shame. What started as a rebellion under Tanyus Shahin against the feudal system (which remains until Modern Lebanon) targeting the oligarchs (Sheikhs) of the time turned into an ugly sectarian war. In the North all the way to Keserwan the peasants succeeded and controlled the area. In the mountains and in the South fearing a same fate the Druze Oligarchs incited their people (with the help of the Ottomans) to attack the Christians. What started as a war between the poor and the rich turned sectarian. It spilled to Syria and to areas that had NOTHING to do with the conflict that started in the North of Lebanon as a pure rebellion. fighting spilled over into Damascus. With the connivance of the military authorities and Ottoman soldiers (being Mohammedan as called those days), Moslem fanatics (YES they existed back then) organized a party-like massacres which lasted three days (July 9-11). 25,000 Christians were killed including the American and Dutch consuls. Churches and missionary schools were set on fire, and Nuns and Monks slaughtered in cold blood.

The West was outraged and the Ottomans (old version Syrian army) stepped in to stop the fighting incited by them in the first place.

At the end of the civil war the Druze and the Moslems suffered heavy losses as well.

I bet you they don’t teach you that stuff in the MODERN state of Lebanon history books. They choose to hide it and never tell it.

So my friend here it is in PLAIN ENGLISH. The mistrust is deep and the wound is getting harder to heal.

As for the USA it is true that only 1.7-2% are jewish however the Zionest lobby in the USA is the most influencial and powerful, it does have a great impact on the USA’s foreign policy.

When I said the USA=Christians and Jews I was referring to the sects that has the most political dominance and presentation, was not referring to population otherwise I would have mentioned Muslims and Seiks

Anyways thanks for the historical background in your post and I am not the one who normally judges people…i leave it up to you to do 🙂

I’m sorry walid I disagree with you.

First of all the end of the Ottoman empire happened or should I say the fall of the Muslim empire was due to the fact that the Muslim leaders and consequently their followers became distant from the Islamic teachings. The Empire became power hungry and lustful. And so it wasn’t because they practiced their religion but it was their lack of practicing it.

By the end of the Ottoman empire Muslims and Christians were equally treated bad by the empire. We are taught about how they slaughtered people left and right and how they became known for the “khazouk.”

And your example in itself proves that the massacres and crimes started due to an uprising of the peasants against their own Maronite leaders backed by the Islamic empire which i am stating became money hungry and far from their “deen.”

So my point is I don’t agree with you that religion has brought nothing but destruction, and religion doesn’t create sectarianism it is supposed to be a reason for abolishing it. Religions teach tolerance and peace and not the other way around. Sectarianism is just as bad as racism, and so what.. do you abolish racism by abolishing a race? No that is not the solution. Nor is abolishing sectarianism by abolishing religion from our lives.

But I agree with JAD, his thinking is SPOT on. That our country our situation asks for us to be loyal to our Country which in hand will protect our religion. There has to be equal power sharing and a source of return that we all from different confessions have in common.

Walid, please share with us your suggestions on how we should abolish sectarianism.

        Peace

      3. Teach your kids to be atheists LOL that will do it 😛

        But seriously,

I can hardly see anyone arguing against having clerics like Moussa al-Sadr who taught tolerance and who himself visited Christian churches frequently revealing to the fanatic morons that there is one message from God and that is love one another.

It starts at the clerics and ends at home where parents are responsible for the upbringing of their kids. It has been my personal observation and experience that “in general” bad parents beget bad children.

I teach my son ALL the religions of the world and their dogma and teachings and beliefs. I will leave it up to him to choose which and how to practice because honestly the way we do it now is dictatorial and abusive to kids. We get them to be “born” into a religion rather than religion to be born within them.

But HEY wait a minute, Moustapha, you got me doing this talk yet it is the job of Prophet… 😛 lol

LOOOOOOOOOOL!! you are definitely a character. But truly i believe that deep down inside you, you believe in a higher being, and you don’t affiliate yourself with any religion but I can tell you do have the belief that we all aren’t just part of a coincidental mistake that made us to be who we are.

Sir Walid. Allahy khalilak wladak ou inshallah ib yikbaro bi 3izak ya rab.

They are as lucky to have you as you to have them, for its hard to come across Good parenthood. Barakallahyu fik.

      7. Ya moustapha,

If I was mulsim I would think like you.=)

People blame religion for their own personal sin.

Beside the word religion come from latin, which mean to create a bond with other human.

Lets be honest if we apply half of the teaching we received, the world will be a much better place.

I know by conviction that we are all equal in the eyes of God.

My belief tell me that God is Love. And it also teach me to love my enemies…

So this is not destruction this if practice is peace.

But where the confusion come in I think espacially in lebanon, is that we have difficulty to separate our religion from politic.

We need to identify us I think first as a human person, and than as lebanese.

Our religion should be the ciment that unify us not the other way.

        Peace to u all!

From Bsharri Lebanon to Montreal Canada =) And inshallah back to Bsharri with your head held high.

May Gods Blessings be upon you and your dear family.

    Sincerely.

    1. Cathy my family name is Helou… are you from montreal or bsharri!

Prophet, from the start I knew that you are a genuine and true lebanese…

Although we don’t share the same political conviction. I respect deeply your background and your root.

I also share your suffering like a true Prophet:

-Death most resembles a prophet who is without honor in his own land or a poet who is a stranger among his people.

      Peace to u all!!

      1. Marc, Thank you for the kind words.

Sharing the love of Gibran is a good start Marc.

I have lots of respect for you as well…You’ve shown your respect and your genuinity, even when we didn’t agree. I have agreed with you many times, but I must have been busy responding to those I disagree with.

You’ve shown your objectivity and willingness to hear the other person.

I do apologize if I ever said anything to offend you. We get emotional sometimes, and say things out of anger or frustration, that we later regret.

I’m much more moderate than my comments portray sometimes. Being a non religious person, I consider myself a very secular person. The insults and attacks bring the worst out of most people. I hope everyone here starts showing more moderation and respect so we can hear each other better. I have no doubt that, all of the Lebanese who comment here have so much love for Lebanon.

  65. I love that finally a gutsy person talked about Israel supplying Iran with arms in the Iraqi war 1980-1985 especially. Iran embassy replied to the accusation today and denied them ,but Nadim could if he really want to prove IT go far and use plenty of trusted sources to show how true it is ,it was admitted by the Iranian themselves and plenty of books talk about it, no one need to deny that , anyway good point for Nadim Gemayel to shut the voices in Hezbollah that are accusing Sami Gemayel his cousin to admit that at a period of time especially 1975-1976 the Christians happened to buy arms from Israel ( So Amal and shiite in the south were provided by Israel,Saad Haddad and Lebanese forces with training and arms to fight the PLO in the famous Shiite /PLO fight after the 1976 civil war) and silent Hizbollah accusation of treason ,if the Christians bought armed from Israel they had no choice , when the other option was the ,genocide against them , or as the Abu Ayyad in 1976 declared that the road to Jerusalem has to pass by Jounieh .Any community would buy arm from any at that time, you immagine the choice to fall in the hand od SAIQA/PLO/MOurabiton/Jeish Lebnen el Arabi with the Assassin Ahmed el Khatib who killed many christian solider in the barracks while asleep when the army was divided in half .Iran did the same in the Iraqi war to survive that what the dear Iranian did, just visit the any site with Iran gate and Israel or wikepedia to see how iran bought over 500 million dollars in arms from Isreal. But for Hizbollah currently the arabic proverb applies “Yahouk lil chaer ma la ya houk le ghairihe” if Hizbollah was to buy arms for Israel or Syria it would have been acceptable and holy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  69. Need to say that Annahar newspaper was the cause of revealing the deal between Iran and Israel in the contra affair at is well known, Annahar got the leak from a high shiite figure in Lebanon at that time -1985 and cause the Reagan Adminstration to shake.

Iran needed accessories for their american arms from the Shah time and since USA couldnt proide arms the Reagan Adminstaration used israel to provide the arms in return for hostages , but the arms deal continued with Iran. Let be know that the Shah of Iran had the best relation with Israel and during the 1973 war and Arab embargo ,the Shah provided Oila nd Gas to Israel . These are facts

  70. the problem is that we don’t have love for each other we disrespect each other because of leaders like them who cares about themsleves and not the society and the people that voted for them as for the parties and I do mean all parties are ignorant and stupied they’ll bring the distruction of lebanon no matter the side that their on iran syria america or france.those countries are working for themselves they want to divide the country and it’s working perfectly. But some people like some idoits here don’t see it. WE DON’T AND WE CANNOT DIVIDED EACH OTHER BY PARTIES OR RELIGOUS SECTORS WE NEED TO TRY TO TREAT EACH OTHER LIKE HUMAN BEINGS WITH RESCPECT AND IF WE DON’T THAN WE’RE LOST FOREVER AND OUR COUNTRY WILL STAY THE SAME, NOTHING WILL CHANGE. EACH GENERATION WILL GROW UP HATING EACH OTHER.

    1. I agree LAILA,AND I SHARE YOUR DREAM OF LEBANESE TREATING EACH OTHER AS HUMAN BEING,LOL I READ ALL THE NAMES THEY WERE CALLING YOU . GOOD LUCK.LOL

I hope all these political leaders that have inherited their posts from their great grandfathers get executed along with their families so that way new people can govern, rebuild and change this mentally retarded country forever.
