Gemayel: Hezbollah must yield to the sole authority of the State

MP Nadim Gemayel said in a speech on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the assassination of his father former president Bashir Gemayel: We don’t fear anyone, neither local nor foreign.

He said : Bashir ( Gemayel) established a State even before he assumed power.

He added: We believe that the rights of the Christians cannot be achieved outside the framework of the State and the Christians are the pioneers of the renaissance.

Commenting on the so called resistance he said: “Hezbollah must yield to the sole authority of the State, because it has chosen the State of war while the Lebanese have chosen the State of peace.”

Commenting on the situation in Lebanon he said: The Lebanese entity is facing the test of unity, although the national decision is under foreign influence.

Commenting on relations with Syria he said: Our dispute with Syria is over its never-ending scheme to dominate Lebanon. He added : The realization of Syria’s dominance required the assassination of Bashir Gemayel, Kamal Jumblatt, Rene Mouawad and Rafik Hariri, and we hold it responsible for all these murders.

Commenting on Phalange party relations with the March 14 alliance he said : We have always been with “Lebanon First”, and let no one try to give us lessons in patriotism. Our question to those accusing us: Is defending Iran at Lebanon’s expense an acceptable option?

He concluded : Phalange Party is proud of its heroic history.

During a press conference earlier on Wednesday,Phalange MP Sami Gemayel said “the Lebanese resistance during the civil war … had no choice but to use the devil [Israel] in order to defend itself, [because] it was confronting the Syrian and Palestinian armies.”

    Ali thank you and I appreciate your moderate positions when posting here. I can tell you are have a great and objective mind. Unlike many narrow minded here who are trying to convince us that Iran, Syria and HA are good for Lebanon. I equate them with israel because all 4 groups had done nothing but destroyed Lebanon. They want to tell us that Syrian rulers are friendly to us compare to israel. How can we accept that after they have brought nothing but destruction to lebanon. All they want to do suck the lifeline of lebanon and control it as its part of Syria. Hafez Al Assad always wanted to merge Lebanon with Syria. And he was very vocal about it. People say we have no war with syria. How can that not be when they’re always attacking us via their plo soldiers, or fatah al islam? or HA or many other groups they send our ways. If we want to a united lebanon. then it has to be against israel first, syria, iran and anyone internally who stands to bring chaos into lebanon.

    My feelings and views of all the traditional political households are well known at this site. I wish Lebanese people, who pride themselves with high education, would wake up one day and stop supporting those families. It’s hard for me to believe that a party like the phalange party, can not find a qualified Lebanese to head this party, except the Gemayl family. Isn’t there really anymore smart people who can take such responsibility? Is this a family/party? Are we going to stay a tribal society for ever?

    Haven’t these families done enough damage to this country?

      Aside from my views of the political house holds and their kids,

      Nadine is just another young politician who decided to inherit a legacy full of killings, crimes, and betrayal. I believe He had a choice to distance himself from the tainted past of his family.

      It would have been better for him , and for all Lebanese , if He had taken a different political path . His was not even born when his family allied themselves with the enemy of Lebanon. He didn’t have to carry that heavy load on his shoulder, unless he feels that He has to compete with his cousin Sami. Tow young cousins competing for the spotlight and leadership of their inherited party, and the rest of Lebanese are lost in the cheering on. They both claim to speak on behalf of the Christians of Lebanon.

      My question is; how many elected members do they have at the parliament?

      No one is denying that they do have their followers, but do they have enough to make that claim?

      We know where their fathers took us; do we know where the two young politicians will take us? I’m afraid to imagine or predict.

        Can you explain to me why black Saturday massacre took place in 75? Do remember that massacre where more than 2000 people were pulled out of their cars because of their religion? Was that done in defense of Lebanon against Palestinians?

        I lost two people there. There were no fights, there were no Palestinians there.

He built his own port. He tried to build his dream state. He set up his own tax collection system. His dream state was not a state for all Lebanese.

    Prophet, from your description of Bashir, it seems Hassan Nasrallah and HA is doing now exactly the same thing and more (establishing a state within the state)….

    At least at the time of Bashir everyone was establishing a state within a state (Jumblat, Franjieh, Amal, the Palestinians, etc…) However, now we have a state and no one other than HA is challenging the state and forbidding it from rising and take its role 100% on all the Lebanese territory.

    Most of all, Bashir was loyal to LEBANON and only Lebanon, but HA who knows they are loyal to whom? The Iranians, the Syrians, may be a little bit to Lebanon…?

        I have exchanged with you before, and I think you are reasonable ,even when we didn’t agree. I try not to get emotional here. I spress my emtions as much as I can. At the end of the day I’m Human.

        I respect your feelings about Bashir being your hero.

      The facts about Bashir are clear. I usually don’t like to bash dead people, no matter who they are and what they have done.It started with a response to a comment.

      My views of all the warlords of the 70 and 80 and 90 are well known.

      I’ve called for trying all of them, from Jumblat to Berri to all the leaders who were part of a destruction gang . I don’t distinguish between any of them, They all killed us for different reasons. Don’t take my view of Bashir as personal . I hate all of them for different reasons. They all had few thing in common, ; power , control, corruption .

      If it wasn’t for them we would not be talking about HA . HA would have never existed.

      We still have a chance to rebuild this country, but we have to be able to look at ourselves in the mirrors and admit where we went wrong. Truth always hurt.

      I almost sure that every one at this site has lost loved ones during the war period . I’m sure they all feel the pain, and the hatred that comes with it.

      I’m not here to hurt anyone’s feeling. I’m a victim as much as any of them.

      Regardless of who and how all these loved ones were lost, the end game is the same. Families with no fathers, kids growing up without a parents, Parents mourning the lost of their kid until the day they die, sisters and brothers missing their siblings, and so on.

      If I’m a scumbag for saying that Bashir did this or Berri did that or Gegaa did this, Then I’M THE PROUDEST SCUMBAG OF ALL PEOPLE. SCUMBAG BECOMES AN HONOR FOR ME.

    Guys I have made an observation regarding the demographics of the users of this website. Correct me if I’m wrong but the overwhelming users are Maronite and are followers of either Kataeb or Forces. As a muslim I feel intimidated to make a comment. I also think since the majority of Muslims in Lebanon are poor and cant afford the internet let alone a computer in my view this website will always remain one sided.     Please everybody lets calm down for a second. It is obvious that no one in the whole civil war mix was innocent not even Gmayele.

    The fact that innocent people died from all sides means that allllllll the various factions are wrong. Now to each one of you your leaders were leading your freedom fighters yet freedom fighters don’t kill innocent men,women and children.

    Can we at least agree on that?

    Now the fact that Gmayele was assasinated due to the fact that he wasn’t willing to bow down to Lebanon proves that he was patriotic and not willing to forsake his country. So yes he made mistakes (i guess also that depends on who’s perspective we are looking at) but you can’t deny to which country his loyalty belonged to. And I think it was Constantin who made a good point.

    I think that the approach on how to criticize each others leaders is sensitive cause we take it as a personal offense when the remark is made against the socalled leader. Why? its cause we believe they represent and are a manifestation of our exact ideals and characters. Yet its not the truth. why? its because none of us here(i hope) would kill an innocent person regardless of his/her confession. Non of us here have enough blood lust to kill an innocent compatriot regardless of his/her confession(i hope).

    Jean you are a good good man i know it for a fact, but i also know prophet is a good good man. Please the both of you lets us practice what all our prophets shared in all their characteristics. Humbleness.

    Guys, we Lebanese people are much kinder than we look and much more naive than smart…we have a very short term memory and a short term vision politics wise. Sorry to say that, but here is my resoning for saying that:

    There is no excuse dealing with an enemy to drive another enemy away, so it is no excuse for Gemayel to deal with ISREAL for any reason, for me this is fighting evil with more evil and the result cannot be in this case in the favor of LEBANON, actually the result was the genocide of thousands of palestinians and lebanese and the mark of civil was…so how did Gemayel do good for Lebanon by using ISREAL??!!

    Is HezbUallah doing the same as what Gemayel family did not so long time ago but instead of using Isreal, it is using Iran and Syria??

    I say it is not in so many ways yet it is still using evil to fight evil and the result would be thousands would die again and the result MIGHT be another civil war…which could be around the corner.

    Is using Syria to control/limit HezbUallaj power advisable or effective?

    In the short term yes, in the medium and long term no because we will be inviting Syria’s army again to Lebanon to stop the cold war for another possible CIVIL War.

    Let me ask everyone this question?

    Can civil war in Lebanon start if every sect in Lebanon was somehow equally powerful and has no ARMS to do any fireworks?

    I say the only way to limit the foreign influence in our country wether it was Syria, Iran, USA, Saudi, France or whatever country is to truly swear loyalty to Lebanon and to our countrymen regardless to their sect or political views and affeliations.

    SAUDI = Muslim Sunni

    USA= Mainly Christian/JEW

    ISREAL= Zionist

    Iran= Shiaa

    LEBANON= Sunni + Shiaa + Christian + Durzi

      On another hand, the mistrust in Lebanon, amongst its sects is deep and historically seated and unfortunately “inherited”. Let me give you an example: In 1860 an uprising by Maronite peasants against their MARONITE overlords turned Moslems against Christians and it EVER stuck SADLY. The Ottomans collected the weapons from the Christian peasants and villagers and PROMISED them the protection of the state. More than 20,000 Christians were massacred by the Druze mob and 380 Christian villages and 580 churches were destroyed. Now here is the twist and the shame. What started as a rebellion under Tanyus Shahin against the feudal system (which remains until Modern Lebanon) targeting the oligarchs (Sheikhs) of the time turned into an ugly sectarian war. In the North all the way to Keserwan the peasants succeeded and controlled the area. In the mountains and in the South fearing a same fate the Druze Oligarchs incited their people (with the help of the Ottomans) to attack the Christians. What started as a war between the poor and the rich turned sectarian. It spilled to Syria and to areas that had NOTHING to do with the conflict that started in the North of Lebanon as a pure rebellion. fighting spilled over into Damascus. With the connivance of the military authorities and Ottoman soldiers (being Mohammedan as called those days), Moslem fanatics (YES they existed back then) organized a party-like massacres which lasted three days (July 9-11). 25,000 Christians were killed including the American and Dutch consuls. Churches and missionary schools were set on fire, and Nuns and Monks slaughtered in cold blood.

      The West was outraged and the Ottomans (old version Syrian army) stepped in to stop the fighting incited by them in the first place.

      At the end of the civil war the Druze and the Moslems suffered heavy losses as well.

      I bet you they don’t teach you that stuff in the MODERN state of Lebanon history books. They choose to hide it and never tell it.

      So my friend here it is in PLAIN ENGLISH. The mistrust is deep and the wound is getting harder to heal.

      Sectarianism has to be abolished from the hearts and mind of our nation and from the state. Whether you like what I am going to say or not here it is: Religion has brought NOTHING but destruction to the world. Please do not lecture me on the message of peace. Look at the wars of the world today and past it was always religious. Keep your faith it has a healing power for our planet. It helps controlling the population.

      Correction the USA has 1.7% “practicing jews” and 0.5% “culturally” born into judaism yet are totally non-religious. With that number as a minority you cannot label the USA as jewish UNLESS you consider Israel as the 53rd state (which in a way it is) 😛

      On another hand, the mistrust in Lebanon, amongst its sects is deep and historically seated and unfortunately “inherited”. Let me give you an example: In 1860 an uprising by Maronite peasants against their MARONITE overlords turned Moslems against Christians and it EVER stuck SADLY. The Ottomans collected the weapons from the Christian peasants and villagers and PROMISED them the protection of the state. More than 20,000 Christians were massacred by the Druze mob and 380 Christian villages and 580 churches were destroyed. Now here is the twist and the shame. What started as a rebellion under Tanyus Shahin against the feudal system (which remains until Modern Lebanon) targeting the oligarchs (Sheikhs) of the time turned into an ugly sectarian war. In the North all the way to Keserwan the peasants succeeded and controlled the area. In the mountains and in the South fearing a same fate the Druze Oligarchs incited their people (with the help of the Ottomans) to attack the Christians. What started as a war between the poor and the rich turned sectarian. It spilled to Syria and to areas that had NOTHING to do with the conflict that started in the North of Lebanon as a pure rebellion. fighting spilled over into Damascus. With the connivance of the military authorities and Ottoman soldiers (being Mohammedan as called those days), Moslem fanatics (YES they existed back then) organized a party-like massacres which lasted three days (July 9-11). 25,000 Christians were killed including the American and Dutch consuls. Churches and missionary schools were set on fire, and Nuns and Monks slaughtered in cold blood.

      The West was outraged and the Ottomans (old version Syrian army) stepped in to stop the fighting incited by them in the first place.

      At the end of the civil war the Druze and the Moslems suffered heavy losses as well.

      I bet you they don’t teach you that stuff in the MODERN state of Lebanon history books. They choose to hide it and never tell it.

      So my friend here it is in PLAIN ENGLISH. The mistrust is deep and the wound is getting harder to heal.

      What to do?

      Sectarianism has to be abolished from the hearts and mind of our nation and from the state. Whether you like what I am going to say or not here it is: Religion has brought NOTHING but destruction to the world. Please do not lecture me on the message of peace. Look at the wars of the world today and past it was always religious. Keep your faith it has a healing power for our planet. It helps controlling the population.

    Guys, we Lebanese people are much kinder than we look and much more naive than smart…we have a very short term memory and a short term vision politics wise. Sorry to say that, but here is my resoning for saying that:

    There is no excuse dealing with an enemy to drive another enemy away, so it is no excuse for Gemayel to deal with ISREAL for any reason, for me this is fighting evil with more evil and the result cannot be in this case in the favor of LEBANON, actually the result was the genocide of thousands of palestinians and lebanese and the mark of civil was…so how did Gemayel do good for Lebanon by using ISREAL??!!

    Is HezbUallah doing the same as what Gemayel family did not so long time ago but instead of using Isreal, it is using Iran and Syria??

    I say it is not in so many ways yet it is still using evil to fight evil and the result would be thousands would die again and the result MIGHT be another civil war…which could be around the corner.

    Is using Syria to control/limit HezbUallaj power advisable or effective?

    In the short term yes, in the medium and long term no because we will be inviting Syria’s army again to Lebanon to stop the cold war for another possible CIVIL War.

    Let me ask everyone this question?

    Can civil war in Lebanon start if every sect in Lebanon was somehow equally powerful and has no ARMS to do any fireworks?

    I say the only way to limit the foreign influence in our country wether it was Syria, Iran, USA, Saudi, France or whatever country is to truly swear loyalty to Lebanon and to our countrymen regardless to their sect or political views and affeliations.

    SAUDI = Muslim Sunni

    USA= Mainly Christian/JEW

    ISREAL= Zionist

    Iran= Shiaa

    LEBANON= Sunni + Shiaa + Christian + Durzi

    You see we cannot have any of our political parties regardless to their SECT affliate with any of the above countries as non of the above countries understand the unique mix and mentality of the Lebanese people.

    Let me ask everyone another question, WHEN IT WAS EVER IN FAVOR OF LEBANON TO HAVE FOREIGNERS INTERFER IN LEBANON’S MATTER?

    My answer is it was never good neither in the medium nor in the longterm.

    To all the politicians in Lebanon, instead of accusing each other with treason and SLEEPING, it is wake time to wake up for the truth and be LOYAL TO EACH OTHER by being just LOYAL to Lebanon and its people

        I can hardly see anyone arguing against having clerics like Moussa al-Sadr who taught tolerance and who himself visited Christian churches frequently revealing to the fanatic morons that there is one message from God and that is love one another.

        It starts at the clerics and ends at home where parents are responsible for the upbringing of their kids. It has been my personal observation and experience that “in general” bad parents beget bad children.

        I teach my son ALL the religions of the world and their dogma and teachings and beliefs. I will leave it up to him to choose which and how to practice because honestly the way we do it now is dictatorial and abusive to kids. We get them to be “born” into a religion rather than religion to be born within them.

        But HEY wait a minute, Moustapha, you got me doing this talk yet it is the job of Prophet… 😛 lol

Iran embassy replied to the accusation today and denied them ,but Nadim could if he really want to prove IT go far and use plenty of trusted sources to show how true it is ,it was admitted by the Iranian themselves and plenty of books talk about it, no one need to deny that , anyway good point for Nadim Gemayel to shut the voices in Hezbollah that are accusing Sami Gemayel his cousin to admit that at a period of time especially 1975-1976 the Christians happened to buy arms from Israel ( So Amal and shiite in the south were provided by Israel,Saad Haddad and Lebanese forces with training and arms to fight the PLO in the famous Shiite /PLO fight after the 1976 civil war) and silent Hizbollah accusation of treason ,if the Christians bought armed from Israel they had no choice , when the other option was the ,genocide against them , or as the Abu Ayyad in 1976 declared that the road to Jerusalem has to pass by Jounieh .Any community would buy arm from any at that time, you immagine the choice to fall in the hand od SAIQA/PLO/MOurabiton/Jeish Lebnen el Arabi with the Assassin Ahmed el Khatib who killed many christian solider in the barracks while asleep when the army was divided in half .Iran did the same in the Iraqi war to survive that what the dear Iranian did, just visit the any site with Iran gate and Israel or wikepedia to see how iran bought over 500 million dollars in arms from Isreal.But for Hizbollah currently the arabic proverb applies “Yahouk lil chaer ma la ya houk le ghairihe” if Hizbollah was to buy arms for Israel or Syria it would have been acceptable and holy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Need to say that Annahar newspaper was the cause of revealing the deal between Iran and Israel in the contra affair at is well known, Annahar got the leak from a high shiite figure in Lebanon at that time -1985 and cause the Reagan Adminstration to shake.

    Iran needed accessories for their american arms from the Shah time and since USA couldnt proide arms the Reagan Adminstaration used israel to provide the arms in return for hostages , but the arms deal continued with Iran. Let be know that the Shah of Iran had the best relation with Israel and during the 1973 war and Arab embargo ,the Shah provided Oila nd Gas to Israel . These are facts

    the problem is that we don’t have love for each other we disrespect each other because of leaders like them who cares about themsleves and not the society and the people that voted for them as for the parties and I do mean all parties are ignorant and stupied they’ll bring the distruction of lebanon no matter the side that their on iran syria america or france.those countries are working for themselves they want to divide the country and it’s working perfectly. But some people like some idoits here don’t see it. WE DON’T AND WE CANNOT DIVIDED EACH OTHER BY PARTIES OR RELIGOUS SECTORS WE NEED TO TRY TO TREAT EACH OTHER LIKE HUMAN BEINGS WITH RESCPECT AND IF WE DON’T THAN WE’RE LOST FOREVER AND OUR COUNTRY WILL STAY THE SAME, NOTHING WILL CHANGE. EACH GENERATION WILL GROW UP HATING EACH OTHER.

        Prophet what happened ya man? looks like a battle field here with all the bad comments lol, I dont agree with anyone worshipping any of these “leaders” but i like this kids points about syria and iran, he is totally right but its too late, hariri and beik are sell outs and this kids message will get swept under the rug.

I like the fact that you are impartial and dont side with any party as they are all lying thieves just looking out for themselves and their political survival. I hope all these political leaders that have inherited their posts from their great grandfathers get executed along with their families so that way new people can govern, rebuild and change this mentally retarded country forever.
