Geagea: We will topple the cabinet democratically

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said on Thursday that the opposition will use all available democratic means to topple the newly-formed cabinet.

Geagea told Voice of Lebanon :

“The opposition’s decision stems from the fact that this cabinet which is under Hezbollah and Syria’s influence is seeking to isolate Lebanon on the Arab and international levels which is very dangerous for our country.”

He added: “It is Syria’s government because it was formed to act as the first line of defense for the Syrian regime and it is Hezbollah’s government because it was formed to confront the indictment by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.”

The LF leader also criticized FPM leader MP Michel Aoun’s attacks against March 14 and former Prime Minister Saad Hariri saying that the such attacks incite sectarian strife by targeting a respected Sunni leader.

Asked if the opposition would resort to street action to overthrow it, the LF leader responded: “All democratic options are available.”

Commenting on Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem’s recent statements that Syria did not interfere in the government formation process in Lebanon, Geagea said that the recent visits of Minister Talal Arslan and PSP leader MP Walid Jumblat to Syria contradict such statements.

The males only cabinet which was announced by PM Nagib Mikati on June 13 was formed 72 hours after Jumblatt returned from talks with Syrian president Bashar al Assad signaling a green light from the Syrian authorities . MP Arslan resigned hours after the cabinet was formed but yesterday Assad summoned him reportedly to convince to remain in the cabinet

Just wait 1 year and win it back in the elections. The entire country is with you this time. Also allow them the time to prove they cant govern. I just got back to Beirut and basically have not seen any tourists (very few real tourists not Lebs visiting) and the economic situation has not eased. People are afraid to visit or invest in Lebanon with a government like this. Real Estate is down, Direct deposits in banks are down and security is at its worst. Just yesterday HA members shot up a parked car over a parking dispute in the Bchamoun area. My Aunt lives in that area and told me. Its was right under her house. They cant handle power and know only violence.

    Check this story … hmmm:
“BEIRUT: The Syrian Central Bank has opened an account at the Lebanese Central Bank last week, Lebanon’s Al-Liwaa newspaper quoted Thursday a source familiar with the banks.
