Israeli diplomatic package delivered to Beirut by mistake

An Israeli package from the Israeli Embassy in Larnaca accidentally arrived in Beirut on Wednesday onboard a Cypriot plane. Lebanon has the right to open any diplomatic package to determine whether it contains explosives.

Airport security confiscated the package and is currently conducting investigations over how it arrived in Lebanon.

The package was headed to the Israeli Foreign Ministry, and is reported to not contain any explosive material.

It has been handed over to military prosecutor Saqr Saqr who will deliver it to Cypriot Embassy.

Maybe they will find ‘evidence’ from 2005 …

It’s called ‘disinformation’, BUT, don’t you think it’s kind of obvious??

very obvious, someone hoping a dumb official picks it up and runs with it :)

Packages sent to and from Lebanon using Fed-Ex also need to be ‘inspected’, I am sure for the same reasons … and yet sometimes things which were sent are curiously missing … and there are no explanations available.
The question here is why, after ‘inspecting’, was it not sent on to the correct receiver right away?

My advise to the Israelis is to check that nothing was stolen during the transit in Beirut.

C’mon!  You don’t think anybody wants to know what’s in it??

      • Anonymous

Nope … I don’t care.  Should have been ‘inspected’ if they thought it necessary, and put back on the same Cypriot airplane.

A name already becoming infamous after only one incident. Imagine …. (whisper Hezzbolla, Hamas, Taliban, …. etc)

I think it was instructions to the Cypriots on how to store gunpowder properly. That incident brought them down to Lebanon’s level of electrical output for the next year.

Why  would they return it to the  Cyprian  embassy? would Israel  return a Lebanese  package  sent  to Israel by  mistake?
