Iranian cargo plane shot down over Damascus airport

An Iranian cargo plane carrying arms and ammunition was shot down over Damascus airport by the Free Syrian Army  FSA fighters .

According to FSA  the cargo plane caused a huge fire as it fell over the Damascus International airport and claimed that the fired spread all the way to the passenger terminal.

Neither the Syrian authorities nor the Iranians commented on the incident according to the report which could not be independently verified.

Iran has been a key supporter of Syrian president Bashar al Assad in his 2 1/2 year crackdown against the Syrian rebels. Most of the arms and ammunition are coming from either Iran or Russia according to the activists.

Over 100,000 Syrians have been killed so far in the Syrian civil war according to UN reports

    Damn. Next they’ll be putting the arms and ammo on the passenger planes.
    Baggage weight will go down again … 🙁
    Although, maybe Al-Q could get in on those ones … :-))

      You amaze me 5th on your involvement with Yalibnan, how do you find the time to comment on every single event and (I am not sure if) on every single comment. You must be either a retired person or an unemployed person. The computer becomes addictive eventually.

        First computer was a Texas Instruments Q994A … 13K ROM, 13K RAM.
        I got addicted on BASIC. (have you ever heard of that? 😉

            Well Hannibal … there’s a few Hyper ‘Cards’ in here, for sure. :-)))
            And yah … for us guys who invented ‘networking’, there’s been a few changes.
            To think I can whack in a terabyte-drive for $150 now – when the original California net-spy-depository-building only had 7 to start – is astounding.
            Look for the iPhone in a watch … Dick Tracy would be amazed. 😉

            (Now, if I could get this Hologram of Marilyn Monroe to have some substance …)

    Why is this the only news organization that’s covering the story. Google News doesn’t have a single link on their front World page. I had to search for it, and this was the only thing that came up. Good thing our news in the USA isn’t filtered or anything.

      USA tells you news ?? I thought it was all opinion and sports. :-))))
      But BBC doesn’t have it either. My guess is that there were not enough people killed to make it ‘newsworthy’. 😉

    There would be someone confirming this story by now if it were fact. I think the “FSA” source (whomever he was) was either confused or trolling you.

        nobody deny anything or accept anything in case of syria because this is proxy war .Did Israel deny or accept missile attack on syria recently. did saudi accept they are providing weapons to rebels .. No one want to get involve directly ..all say we are doing humanitarian task in syria…so in short you cannt say it was fake or not based on deny or acceptance

          The Saudi’s actually have stated they are arming the rebels. But I agree with you. The majority of of people don’t want to deny or accept anything when it comes to Syria.
